I mean, I love the mountains for skiing and hiking and outdoors type $hit, but NH and VT are so damn boring at night! I could never live in a rural area full-time.
I suspect if Vail divests of a resort or two, it is more likely to be in Pennsylvania where they already own (or operate) almost half of the open areas. I'm surprised that the anti-trust people haven't stuck their nose in like they did with ASC in New England. You guys don’t know how excited I got when I heard on the radio WBZ 1030:
“A large ski resort operator is selling off 2 of their resorts, more coming up at the top of the hour.”
I immediately thought maybe vail is finally selling Attitash and Wildcat!
Sadly, just Killington news.
But, the day with come! Wildcat won’t be yours forever VAIL!

Fuck you, Concord New Hampshire is The Hardcore Party of the world. In the sleepy 4 story who house, there's a basement or kitchen. We rage and destroy. The quarries, Mast Yards, rivers, prisons and bars.I mean, I love the mountains for skiing and hiking and outdoors type $hit, but NH and VT are so damn boring at night! Yeah, go fuck yourself as well. I generally ignore your gibberish but you really are annoying and I wish you would just stop posting, it would make this place much better.
I live near Portsmouth, NH. Here and along the NH and ME seacoast on up to Portland has basically everything I would ever want out of a Boston or NYC with a fraction of the people / traffic / BS. Only thing missing is professional sports, which I would rather watch on TV anyway.
To your point, if I still lived in VT, it would be within 45 minutes of Burlington only. In Maine it would be within 45 minutes of Portland.
Been spending some time in franconia this summer. Iron furnace is decent for beer but menu is limited. Tried little grille in littleton Friday, place looks like a dive from the outside, we walk in to find Brazilian BBQ. Around a dozen dishes buffet style, then they walk around with another dozen different meats on giant scewer. Everything was excellent, kids even enjoyed it and they are not adventurous eaters.Yeah...sigh.... There's not a lot of urban amenities in the Whites. A few decent food and drink options, most of which have the same 5 wines and stop serving food around 8 pm. A couple college town sports bars in Plymouth. Some community theater type stuff in the summer and the New Hampshire Music Festival is an underrated gem, but most of the attractions are of the outdoor variety.
Not a fan of iron furnace the 2 times I have been. Service was horrible as was the beer that I tried. Schillings (resilience more so) on the other hand has great beer and pizza!Been spending some time in franconia this summer. Iron furnace is decent for beer but menu is limited. Then walk over the footbridge to schilling beer garden makes for a good night. Only complaint is main street rolls up at 6PM.
They are minority owners still. Could be up to 49%What are the implications of POWDR retaining a seat on the Killington board ? Is this typical of transactions like this ? Without an ownership stake, what incentive does POWDR have to act in the best interests of the mountain ?
Schilling is ok, same with Last Chair in Plymouth and One Love in Lincoln. Rek-lis has better beer, as does Dam Brewhouse in Campton and Sole Track in Rumney.Been spending some time in franconia this summer. Iron furnace is decent for beer but menu is limited. don’t like dam, and one love is horrible. Rek-lis is good. Last chair is okay. Never have been able to hit sole track when it was open.Schilling is ok, same with Last Chair in Plymouth and One Love in Lincoln. Rek-lis has better beer, as does Dam Brewhouse in Campton and Sole Track in Rumney.
Honestly i look at owning a ski resort as a pretty stressful experience. Insurance, weather, lots of expensive mechanical stuff to break, unhappy customers on social media having "Karen" events, and the list goes on.Why not? If I were a billionaire, I'd definitely buy a small ski resort like a Plattekill or a Sundance, and keep it somewhat affordable, small, Mom & Poppy and old-school. Frankly, I'm surprised this hasnt happened more often.
