I don't know what's more dangerous; driving during the actual storm or the day after dodging snow and ice flying off the roof tops of the cars of these lazy slugs.

that pisses me off more then cigarette butts tossed from cars..

I lost a rear side window on my old Subi from a sheet coming off a truck... I pulled over and so did another guy who got nailed...
Got the number of the truck and called the company and my insurance... We used each other as witnesses.. the truck company paid...

Yeah, I hate that. I mean take a freakin' broom and just wipe it off? How long does it take? (and don't give me shit about scratching the paint....screw that, never happens!). I have a nice big shop/garage broom that I use, cleans the entire car in like 2 minutes flat!

It's the law in MA for truck to clear off their roofs, but it doesn't seem to have much effect. It would be nice if the troopers spent a little time writing out tickets to truckers for a few days after storms.

I think it's the law in CT for all cars to clear the snow off, otherwise it's essentially an unsecured load. Doesn't have any effect here either though.

Same in Jersey.

Never would know that driving around here.

My personal favorite (and by favorite I mean what gets me most ), are the people who don't brush anything off their car. They just use the wipers on their windshield, and the rear defroster on the back. I saw a few of those over the weekend.

To this day I do not see why people drive days with the mounds of snow & ice. I think it is sort of like a "trophy wife" thing as a way these people can show off either 1. How lazy they are. 2. What a lack of common sense they have. 3. How much snow they have. 4. How ignorant they are. 5. All of the above.

I use a hair dryer ;)

All seriousness aside, people who don't brush the snow off are both selfish and inconsiderate. It's the "me first" mentality.

I usually don't sweep the roof of the SUV completely. With the roof rack, you really can't most of the time since it's frozen solid. I do the sun roof in front of the roof rack and around the edges of the rack. I fully clean it when it thaws.

I have a sawed-off broom in the VW and a full sized one in the SUV.

Those are great! SnoBroom! We had those at the car lot I worked at in high school.

Currently, I have an extendable snowbrush in each vehicle. It comes in really handy for the Jeep...that thing has a lot of realestate up top. And I do my best to clean it off when it's not parked in the garage. (Snowed while at work or up in VT).

There is a story that goes with this picture. Perhaps I should let Philpug tell his version...

Yup, that's the CT law. I forgot exactly the wording, but it's within a certain amount of time after the storm stops that you're supposed to have your vehicle cleaned off completely or else face a ticket.

I'm guessing that even in this time of state budget crisis that you'd have to do something major to piss the cop off enough for him/her to tack that one onto the ticket though, since I'd bet that there's been very few tickets handed out for just "failure to drive with a cleared roof" (or whatever the exact citation is)

There are many laws that only get enforced when it is a contributing factor to a greater offense, such as a collision.

Then there are other laws like littering that will never be enforced, save for egregarious offenses. "Don't you have anything better to do with your time?" is the thinking.

Sadly, usually the cops are too busy mopping up after accidents and other hazards while these folks drive around creating a mini-blizzard.

The ones that scare me the most are the ice sheets that come flying off. They can do much more damage and create much more hazardous situations. A sheet of ice came flying off a truck once and landed flat on my windshield, I could not see a damn thing out of the entire windshield.
