Was at Ragged yesterday on Indy, first time back in over ten years. Place was MOBBED, Loon type lift lines. Talking 10-15 minutes from 10am straight thru 2 when I left. They run the quad and 6-pack at basically the same capacity(8sec intervals on quad and 12sec on the 6 between chair loads) which I found odd. It felt like the 6 could add a couple carriers to gobble up more people. I find it hard to believe they’re just scraping by if these crowds are consistent during the core season.

The trees were absolutely lovely, especially in the valley between the two lifts. Seemed like without the woods it would’ve gotten a little old quick with the short-ish runs down to big lines.

Having no Barnyard adds big-time to the lines specially the 6.

True....but even when I went there last year and Barnyard was spinning, the lift lines were like Loon.

IMO, they should put in a lower mountain lift again that dumps folks out at the top of the terrain park. That would syphon a fair amount of traffic off the Six.

How about putting that new lift into the Pinnacle Peak area instead, where the previous owner already cut new trails ? That would really help spread people out.

Clearcut areas are clearly visible even now

I heard rumors, from a friend of the new ownership, that one option mentioned for the expansion area is an uphill only pod. Some of it is accessible now, but I have no idea how much clearing the locals do.

I think they really need that Pinnacle pod, even with the current crowds never mind the crowds new trails may bring. Put in a detach quad and then you have a whole lot of terrain you can cover with only three lifts running.

Snow making would be the issue> they take way too long now to get trails open. Think if they had another pod.

Then passes double and day tickets go up 50% to pay for it, and the place loses a lot of appeal. I don't know of any locals who want the expansion to ever occur. I am ambivalent since I just visit on Indy now.

The required snowmaking improvements alone would include new or expanded storage ponds, new transfer pumps, new high-pressure pumps, new feed lines.

Also keep in mind the trails that were "cut" were really an exercise in timber tax revenue and less about cutting ski trails. The tops were never finished and they were never stumped. It would be starting from scratch now pretty much.

Well both were removed because once the 6 pack went in, no one was riding them. That also was before Spear was even replaced. I can't see that the situation has changed drastically. Personally I wouldn't mind trading Wild Side for Lower Ridge if a lift were to be reinstalled. They wouldn't keep the park on Wild Side if there was a lift there again, and as much as I think L. Ridge is one of the better runs, it's a slog getting back to any of the main lifts.
