Date(s) Skied: March 11

Resort or Ski Area: Ragged

Conditions: Semi frozen granular

Trip Report: The sun was shining and it was about 50º when I got to Ragged about 1:30. I was supposed to meet reefer but half way to the area I realized I'd for gotten my cell phone. Sorry reef, hope you had a good day. Tell us how you made out.

I wanted to ski the center glades but they were all roped off so I skied Sweepstakes and Showboat (ungroomed) instead. I asked the patrol if they had plans to open any glades and I was told Tree Hugger had an unroped entrance but no glade between the peaks were going to open. Tree Hugger was full of bare spots with the more southern exposure but noticed the trail bisecting Tree Hugger had plenty of snow. This is an unnamed trail off Flying Yankee. Its not a glade but a very narrow trail with a few moguls but some decent coverage. After that I skied Showboat on the groomed side then over to Newfound Ridge. With time running out I practically bombed Exhibition - there was almost no one on it at this point then took it over to Lower Ridge to finish.

Nice pics Bob..
Yep, there's just so much snow they can push around these days....

Actually all the pics I have are of natural snow. There's still TONS of manmade. I didn't take any photos of that but look to the right on the first photo of Ungroomed Showboat - you'll see the manmade - definitely of lot left to push around.

I for got to mention that my trips down Exhibition included Upper and Lower Crewcut with also had some decent snow and moguls.

Too bad we missed each other. I was in my Green Long Trail sweatshirt.
Made the best of it at Ragged, skied ungroomed which was found enough to keep our day pretty interesting. That ungoomed under Spear Chair in your first two pics was a lot of fun. Problem with the glades is coverage. They were skiable but the "masses" could not be let in there. Done for the year unless a freak two-footer occurs. Was surprised but they do have a ton of snow left on a few of their snowmaking trails!

Couldn't beat the weather. Hit and hovered around 50.

F'd my knee up pretty good about 3:30. May have to take a week off.......................
