Resort or Ski Area: Ragged Mountain

Conditions: Packed powder

Trip Report: Had a great day at Ragged yesterday with my 18 year old daughter. We were debating going to Waterville but figured that the crowds would be smaller at Ragged and I'm sure we were right.

We arrived at 8:15 and drove right up to the lodge. Rented skies for her, bought some new socks at the shop for me and we were on the first chair up. We stayed on the green/easy trails because she's a novice skier and I'm just back to skiing after a looong layover.

The conditions were perfect for us. Well groomed trails and we never waited more than just a few minutes to get on the chair. We rode the six pack from about 8:30 to 11 and had a blast. By 11, the crowds were rolling in and the snow was getting mushy so we headed into the lodge for an early lunch in the bar. The food was really good and my beer was nice and cold! Took two runs after lunch but the crowds combined with the soft snow convinced us to call it a day and head back to Boston.

Soo good to be back on skies and I think my daughter may have just become be the latest ski addict in our family.

By the way, everything that has been said about the crew at Ragged is correct. From the rental and ski shop to the lifties and bar staff, everyone was extremely friendly, polite, conversational and just plain nice. It was a pleasure to be there!

Welcome back to the world of skiing. I had a twenty year hiatus myself. Started back up when my son turned five, he's twenty one now. He did turn to the darkside at age seven, however. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I've never skied New Hampshire, so far NY,PA, VT, ME, NM, for me. I wish I had the fore sight to head there before the Blizzard of 2010. It would have been fun to ski two feet of fresh.
