Ragged has a new web site up. Adult pass prices for next year are $199 if purchased by labor day. That is an incredible value.

There is also a press release that includes plans to spend $1.5M - $2M on snowmaking and golf course improvements.

$199 pass.

Investment in the mountain.

New owner.

And Bob Fries at the helm.

Methinks an AZ Challenge is in order....

I am looking forward to the challenge. I have always enjoyed ragged but never been able to get there as much as I would like.

I was nearly sold on a peaks pass but this deal makes a ton of sense for those of us in southern new hampshire. The drive is similar to crotched but the place skis much larger. You are definitely gambling snow conditons with crotched vs ragged but the price and proximity make a having both a cannon and ragged pass an attractive option.

Stopped by yesterday crossing over from VT to the lakes region. Never been here before on or off season. Spied the Ragged Mtn Road street sign & made a u-turn, drove up the road and a couple of miles later saw the slopes. A couple of comments and observations.

- hardly anyone was on the golf course and the parking lot.
- there was no indication of any work on the ski slopes except for some maintenance on a triple chair.
- there was a nice lady working at the pro shop who put the best spin on the past but was clearly excited about the new ownership. couple things she had to say, the snow-making pond was in process of being drained and would be enlarged over the next few months, in another couple of weeks a bunch of snow-making equipment would be delivered and installation/upgrades begun, one of the chairlifts would be getting a new cable and all chairlifts receiving a little TLC. The base lodge is getting all new carpeting. The slopes will actually be cut/mowed this fall in preparation for the upcoming season - this hadn't been happening!
- my observations would be that it looks like a real nice mid-sized mountain to ski if there was snow - natural or man-made. With natural snow and a relatively gentle pitch, skiing the woods woul be fun. The lift capacity plus the fact everything empties to a single point is a nice selling point for young families.
- In passing, the pro shop woman mentioned future expansion including the potential of a 3rd peak and additional hotel/private residence development.
- at 45 minutes door-to-door, I'd love to ski here in the coming season with a good product - I've had free or discounted passes the last couple of seasons that have never been used.
- general observation, a place with alot of upside - of course, I don't know anything about the business!

BTW: saw my breathe Saturday morning for the 1st time!

I hiked it a few weeks back. Impressions similar to yours, tremendous potential but i wont be dropping the $400 for a couple passes until I see some progress on the mountain. I took a bunch of pictures in the gallery below, I hope to get back up there for another hike before the labor day pass deadline.

driving home last night, I remembered something (strange how things just "Pop" into your head) that I forgotten to document - two new groomers are on order! also, I noticed that below the golf course, there is lots of water (swampy stream) but the between the water and ski slope (golf course), the elevation climbs 100' or so. somewhere, folks have mentioned H2O being problematic at the area.
