I got out 5 times in December (three of them were last week). I would say the conditions I skied were decent for early season skiing. The two best days were Hunter last Thursday and Jiminy last Monday. I've definitely seen better December conditions, but I got out a bit more than a normal December so I'm gonna say "Good".

Think snow for January though. Please!

The skiing that I got in was alot of fun, I just wish I got in more of it. I only got in just over 2 days of skiing (2 full days at Stowe, and 2 hours at Sundown this past Saturday). I was hoping to get in more days between Christmas and New Years, but there was too much other stuff going on :(

I went with "Good" as well :)

I'd vote, but this is only my second full season and last year I didn't get out until January, so I only have a sample size of one for comparison.

In any case, I guess I should not complain, since I got out three times in December (two last week). For two of the trips (Crotched and Sunapee), the conditions were about the best that I could expect without natural snow, and even the third trip (Gunstock) was decent.

Of course, the way the weather's going, I may not even get out three times in January... :x

I would say that means you're allowed to vote "Excellent"! ;)

I'll vote good, a bit of natural snow would have changed my vote to excellent.

I'm not fussy; I'd ski on ice cubes from someone's freezer if they took the time to spread the cubes out on some decent terrain.

3 times in December. Two times in Canada at 0 to 12 below zero for temperatures and one day at Butternut.

I will say "good".

I voted average. Many years are lean in December. We had a few cold snaps that allowed significant snow making, just would have liked some natural snow. 12 days in December. 8 in November. I think November was worse than previous years very slow start to season...

3 times out so far- 2 a Mt Snow, 1 at Sunapee. Christmas Sunday at Snow was excellent (3 inches of fresh snow by the end, and no one on the mountain), yesterday at Sunapee was good, all things considered (Patroler said we'd picked the right day to come- Saturday was awful from melting and wind, Tuesday had many more than its fair share of yahoos).
Overall, I'd give December a 7. It had a nice beat, but I couldn't dance to it.

I agree the day after x-mass was one of the best. Loon only got 2 inches of snow out of that storm, did any area get alot of snow out of the storm? Greg you will catch up with some mid week runs.

I was there on Tuesday...I hope that I wasn't one of the yahoos the Patroler was talking about.

hammer- I think his biggest concern was that there were way more people there than there were trails to handle them.
He said, "Good thing you weren't here Tuesday."
I said, "Was it bad?"
He just shook his head, lit his pipe, and sat quietly for a moment. Then we saw someone come sliding down the trail, equipment everywhere. The person was fine, so we chuckled.

I have to say "excellent" because I was able to do two days at Killington, one of which was a bit cold, but both days (12/21 and 22) had very decent trail conditions and we were able to ski about 5 hours each day. And, I had four extraordinary days out in Utah (12/7 - 11, we took one day off), skiing in powder up to our waists at times! As I have posted, the NE is really starting to make me desperate and has me looking ever more westward.

considering last december i had two epic powder days and most decembers i could at least get off the groomers and ski some decent natural snow trails, my vote is for poor. my ski days and locations generally didn't line up with where and when the limited amount of snow fall we had landed. i did ski a total of 8 days at 9 different locations through the end of december which is a personal high; however, that number would be much closer to 15 if the snow had been better and damn near 20 if the snow had been epic. when ever i deceide in december not to ski because "snow conditions three weeks ago were better than today" - then i am generally inclinced to view the conditions as poor.

but i am biased as i am sick of the groomers and have been since day two. for those apprciating the groomed aspect of skiing then there has been decent conditions at many locations despite the poor weather.

Not "voting." Don't have sufficient skiing Decembers to compare. But disappointing. We've been out 6 times, not bad, but conditions have pretty much been either icy or slushy, or a combination. Ironically, we had great conditions at mighty Yawgoo exactly 1 week ago this evening.

Got out 4 times

Got out 4 times during December. Twice to Mount Snow. Condtions at Snow were excellent during December. They had some natural snow and a very good man made program. The trails were excellent.

Me too, but I just go out there and turn 'em anyway. And despite the lack of natural snow, trail conditions have been decent at Hunter with a few really good days thrown in; I have had a few genuinely good bump days too.

Of course, my home hill depends on manmade snow so they are really good at making and maintaining their snow. Seasons like this one are when Hunter shines, one of the few times where it seems to be better than more northerly resorts that depend more on natural cover.

But all it takes is one good 2-3 foot dump and that all changes. I'm really missing that nautral snow cover and the off-piste opportunities that come with it, so in that one regard the season has been poor.

No offense Rivercoil, but I think we're spoiled!
