Rate the 2008 part of the 2008-09 season so far on a 1-10 scale. For me I'd give mine a 7 so far. Some highlights:

  • Big Catskill snows in late October
  • Seeded bumps in CT on Temptor at Sundown starting in November
  • Mid December day on Castlerock
  • A December powder bump session at Sundown
  • 4 days skiing with my daughter so far; some solid progress
So far, pretty good. It's great to have a fun skiing option so close to home, but I'm ready to get back up north. Can't wait for Magic or BEast to get cranking and I'm looking forward to getting up to MRG once things improve.

I'd say a 6.

Bonus points for early days (heck, I have half of a season under my belt already, based on past seasons!). Minuses because I had planned on getting more in by now; I'm not advancing as I would have liked due to less time on the snow than I planned. And there has been far too much warming up plus NCP.

I'd give it a 7 so far just simply because outside of Sunday's bumps, I really haven't skied anything but groomers. I've swung and missed on some decent powder days due to the old ball and chain called work. If it weren't for that I'd call it a solid 8-9

-I've enjoyed the variety, 7 days out at 7 different areas.

-I'm well ahead of pace to exceed 20 days.

-I'm not 100% content with my fitness, but I'm in much better shape than I have been at the start of the last few seasons, which translates to skiing performance.

- finally starting to connect and make some runs with fellow Azers, which has been great.

- content with my gear

Is it Friday yet?

It just started. Too soon to tell. Going to Vail in March should be good and probably the highlight of the season.

My season is off to a pretty normal start. 2 weekends in Vermont, 1 weekend in NY and the rest of my skiing has been here in PA. I've been skiing about 4 out of every 5 days at Blue mountain and taking off that other day as a rest day. In less than 3 weeks, I leave for Jackson Hole where I'll be skiing for 8 days..then my ski season will kick into high gear with more trips after that..

I'm at 32 days so far but alot of my sessions are only 2-3 hours..

34 days in, but many days with wind hold or limited lifts access due to wind.. Great efforts by Sunday River, but the weather has made this season a step behind last winter so far for me..

I'm rather happy with this season so far. I've gotten out a lot more this year and I was able to blow the rust off my legs before my K trip, so that's a real bonus. K's been good so far but it's January so I don't expect the mountain to ski the same from day-to-day.

6

While I have more powder days than non-powder days, early season offerings were limited and the last few weeks have been skunked badly. Powder days have been rather limited, no real epic offerings (I missed out on the two "epic" days so far this season). Overall, great base but lack luster skiing compared to what I am used to by 2+ months into the season.

I would say mine has been a 6 just because I was so out of shape the first time I went out DHS almost had to pimp smack me for being such a wimp. Second time was better as I spent some time in the gym to get ready for the next trip. Going to Tenney this Saturday and maybe Sunday River on Sunday.

I'll give it an 8 right now. Two days on the hill, 1 @ waterville which was solid early season with the added bonus of the Ciao poach. Day 2 at MRG simply kicked ass. no other way to put it.

Right where I want to be
I would rate my season a 6. I have been out 9 times to five different mtns. 5 times to 1 - 1 time to 4. had 2 good to great days, 1 good day and the rest were fun but conditions were a little lacking. 2 times in Nov, 4 times in Dec and 3 times so far in Jan.

4 . . . A little below average.

Snow and conditions have been slightly above average, but personal health has been below average, preventing me from enjoying said conditions . . .

Plus I got new boots and they continue to hurt like hell. I got orthotics that didn't seem to help, and now I'm going to go back and try some new stuff . . .

I'd say a 7, I haven't had nearly as many all day trips to bigger mountains because of my son's school schedule and my wife's pregnancy. On the other hand I've had quite a few short 2 hour or so sessions at the local mountains where I bang out as many runs as I can non-stop. I also had a rare Jersey powder day and I've skied with my son a bunch of times, it's great watching him ski parallel and make turns at 5 years old and he and I have a lot of fun.
