I moved to a ski town, screw commuting for turns.

But back in the day, I didnt care how long it took, if the gettin was good, I was gettin a move on.

I drove 6 hours one way (usual 2 hour commute) to Whiteface on the Valentines day storm in 07. Probably took a year or two off the back end of my life, but man o man was it worth it.

No day trips here, hell, I don't even like driving the 2 minutes to get to GP. Gotta at least be a 2 to 3 day stay for me to travel for skiing.

Most I've done is 3.5 each way (to Killington from Connecticut when I was in college). I prefer 2 hour or less. Where I live now, that's basically impossible, but I don't do many day trips (nor do I even have car).

It's funny how when we were younger we wouldn't think twice about driving 3 to 3-1/2 hours to get to SugarBush, MRG and drive home later, it wasn't an option cuz we didnt have the $$ to stay overnight.
Now I hate driving anywhere past 2 hours, for anything. I like the drive to Bromley, but I hate the drive to Stratton, which is what another 20 minutes.
I better learn to enjoy it, I'll be doing it a lot of Sundays this year.

When we were younger, we don't have all these pesky family obligation that makes us unable to ski both days of the weekend.

Also, gas cost more these days. So driving 5 hrs each way eat up so much gas I don't do it any more, unless I get to stay overnight and ski 2 days.

3h max. Some exceptions made for really good conditions. I'm just on the southern borders of Boston so my time limit will get me to Cannon.

In my much younger days we used to do day trips from So. CT to the Bush or Burke (4-4.25 hr.). The old 2 for 1 ski deals provided the incentive. Nowadays 3 hours one way is the max. Example: Okemo is kind of the edge of my tolerance from North Haven, CT. Killington is a stretch, but under the right circumstances is doable. To be honest I like staying over, but family commitments put a strain on that sometimes.

Anything longer than 10 minutes over to Pico is unacceptable. :)

Based at Killington, I've done Jay Peak and Mount Snow a number of times. From metro-Boston, I've done Sugarloaf by turboprop. 2 1/2 hours is about my max.

I feel like we've talked about this before.

No matter. I guess I'd be willing to go up to 4 hours (one way). It would have to be a really epic day, and it would have to be a really strange snow pattern that only dumped 4 hours away (i.e., I'd have to pass several solid ski areas to go 4 hours from my house in the mountains). I guess Jay would really be the only mountain that would fit the bill.

I guess I'm spoiled.About 45 seconds drive for me to step out of the car and right on the slope at Cannon.Should be even shorter this year with the new Mittersill lift.

2 hours hours is about all I like to do for a day trip.

2:15, which is how long it takes me to Sugarloaf or Saddleback. That is long for me though, and why I only get up there a couple times a year. I don't mind the ride up, but on the way back I am tired, and just want to get home to shower and drink beer. I mostly ski Sunday River, which is an 1:15, and much more manageable. Props to those that will do 3-4 hours each way, as that is just WAY too much for me.

Like many I've done up to 3 1/2 hours when I was younger which would get me to So Vt from Westchester NY. Since I've had the place at Magic we don't do many day trips but we'll hit the MRV on occasion from there which is a little under 1 1/2 hours so I guess that is my new limit.
