And yes, I hugged a member of the ski patrol, today actually! She works at Cannon, wished her a Merry Christmas, friends for a long time, and she liked hearing how Mittersill was!

I heard some interesting stories of poachers on Ripsaw last week after the 30+ inches of snow in six days. It must've seen so inviting but most regretted it. The dry snow wasn't enough to fill in the very rocky steep pitch. One patroller described the bases of a skier caught poaching as looking like they'd been scratched by wild animals.

Those willing to wait and ski it when its open might be excited to hear Ripsaw is now set up for snowmaking. It should get fired up the next time it gets cold.

that does excite me. I'll be up at loon at some point in the coming month or so and hopefully it'll be open then. Looks like a fun trail.

A buddy of mine on the snowmaking crew told me too that they are ready to fire up the guns when the temps return to normal!
