AZers; I was just curious if there are any rituals you may have for to prep or psyche yourself up for the impending ski season,

IE: shamelessly check ski resort websites for signs of the changing season

Have a "Ski Wax and Tune Party" while slugging beers and watching warren miller films or "Aspen Extreme"

consistantly get RSS feeds from wunderground regarding weather changes in the northern reaches of canada and siberia to get amped about snowfall here for the coming winter

so those are mine, what are yours?

i start checking websites and just reading trail maps. geeky habit but its something i enjoy. Gets me pumped up. I had two boxes filled with old maps from the 80's and 90's at my parents house. God i wish i could find them now.

i have no pre-season rituals that i can think of. in season, i am fond of having a "summit apple" when earning turns and reaching a summit. other than that, i really don't do rituals.

Nothing that I'd call a ritual. But I do start looking at ski sites and forums with more anticipation. Wife and I seem to start talking about where we want to go this year. And I love golf but about this time of year my mind seems to turn to snow -- I know none you could understand, but...

I don't have any pre-season rituals. The only ritual I have is clicking my poles when starting each run. It's something I picked up a while ago.

I posted the Mohawk, Sundown, Catamount, and Jiminy trail map in my office. Its not really a ritual but more like homework. I hate standing around staring at trail maps when I can be skiing.

My ritual consists of doing almost exactly what was said in the opening post: compulsively checking ski resorts websites for the signs of changing seasons and snowmaking. It doesn't really start to hit hard until mid October.

No rituals here. I simply post on this fine Web site all year. Skiing is always on the brain at some level...

Ditto for me. I also start to collect the ski area promo literature and flyers on my ski shop visits. I'm always looking for a "deal" or discount.
