Thinking of taking the kids up to BW first weekend in Feb. None of the trees are open yet and I'm not sure what the base is like in there at this point. What do you figure the chances are of opening them up if we see 6-8 inches by Feb 3?

There is a solid base in the woods, but there's no way to knowing if they'll be open so far in advance. All it takes is one day of bad weather for them to be closed. A freeze/thaw can make it rock hard, or sleet will create crust on top. I was there last Sunday, and they got snow on Friday, but most of the woods were closed because the temps were so cold that everything was frozen solid.

Thanks! Good to know there's at least some decent base. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess. It's like last minute spring skiing. Never been to BW...the girls like trees but on the gentler side, so BW seemed like a good option.

Absolutely. I haven't been in Rosebrook yet, that entire side of the mountain wasn't open on Sun, but the trees on the West Mt are definitely on the gentle side.
