Silver Passes were blacked out at Sunday River so a few friends and I decided to make the trek from our ski house in Bethel to Saddleback. I had never been there but always wanted to check it out and this gave us the perfect excuse. The $35 deal for season pass holders of different mountains is a great deal too. We got a late start and didn't get to the lift until 11:00. The lift line for the double was very long but it was the only time we had to ride that lift. When we got off of the double we skied down Green Weaver to the Nightmare Glades. I couldn't believe how great the snow was in the glades.

We then hit the Kennebago Quad. The top was foggy and windy. We took Dazzler to the Casablanca Glades. Dazzler was a little bit of a hike and our snowboarder friend said he wasn't doing that again but his attitude changed when we went into the glades. ;-) We first went into the 3rd of 4 openings, it was a fairly wide open glade. The first two parts of the glades are tighter than 3 and 4.

Some pics of the #3 glade.
Bad timing on this pic. :-D

Three of us stayed in the glades all day, the groomers had poor visibility and the wind blowing the snow made it feel like your face was getting sandblasted. Besides, with the snow that good in the trees why would we want to do anything else? The Intimidator Glades were a little more skied off but still in great shape. I had one scary crash head first into a tree in there. Put a small dent in my helmet but no real damage. :dunce: The top part of nightmare glades was a little thin in coverage but still a lot of fun the lower part was awesome as you can tell from the first pic.

This was the best day of the year so far for me. I'm glad I finally made it to Saddleback and can't wait to get back again soon.

They are suppose to be replaced but money is a little tight right now so in the meantime I'll have to just avoid head butting any more trees.

Thanks for the pics, Mildcat. Glad you survived that "ding" in Casablanca. I had my bell rung in there too. I guess the mountain wanted payment from us for plundering its secrets. Be safe and ski another day.
