Resort or Ski Area: Saddleback

Conditions: PP

Trip Report: Another great couple of days at Saddleback. Great PP conditions. Big crowds. Windy up high, but milder temps made it bearable.

We basically skied all over the mountain. The glades were skiing pretty decent considering the lack of snow. They got a dusting both days. Casablanca skied very well considering the lack of snowfall. Excellent cover in #1 and #2 drop-ins... and they are just a 6-12 inch storm away from being MINT. I am very tired of writing that last sentence over and over on my trip reports. Come on snow!

Crossed one off the bucket list. Did Muleskinner on both days which we had never done before. Great soft snow in skiers left on most sections. A couple of bony areas but overall very good and fun. I can imagine that is a blast on a powder day.

BIG CROWDS. The lodge was mobbed and big lines at times at the Rangeley. Upper Quad was ski-on both days. It was really windy at the top so this probably kept a lot of folks down low. Even though its a pain to fight the crowds in the lodge and lift lines are long at times... the trails are always uncrowded and the snow is top notch so it is worth it. Hopefully they are having a good year and capital investments in a new lodge expansion and replacement chair for the Rangeley happen this summer.

A couple of pics - flat light all weekend so I tried to touch them up a bit:

Great pics and nice report as always! Looks like Casablanca has some decent snow in there. Better than I would have expected. How is the snow holding up at the top?

Thanks for the report! Makes me regret not heading up there today. I was planning on it but there was no one up at our ski house so I came home yesterday. Yeah I'm an idiot. :dunce:

Snow up top is great. Tight Line / Supervisor / Tri-color skied very well with excellent cover. We did not venture on to the Wardens Worry / Black Beauty or Frost Bite so not sure how they were, although the tops looked sketchy although I bet the left side down low were not too bad. Probably some wind blow stash here and there.
