What ski areas around Albany NY/southern VT offer a reasonable deal on a family ski pass. With the little research I have done so far, it's looks like 4 twilight passes at Jiminy Peak may be my best bet for next year, but I wouldn't rule out something like a Sunday pass at a place like Okemo, if anyone offers something like that. I haven't skied Bromley or Magic or Stratton etc in over a decade and can't even remember if they are family friendly.

I gambled this year and a bought a family season pass at Willard Mtn and my kids had never skied before and I wasn't even sure if they were going to like it. I was afraid I was going to waste a lot of $$ on the pass and all new equipment and lessons, etc, but they love skiing and are really doing good, so I want to step up next year and expose them to a bigger mtn with more blue cruisers.
By the way, Willard has been great, their lesson programs for the kids were super.
Thanks!

I know I amy sound a little biased as a magic passholder, but with the early season discount, tix for me and my 2 boys was under 1,000 for unrestricted season passes. Kids 6 and under ski for free too. Another plus is the fact that families make up the large majority of skiers at the mountain. Since its been a while since you were there, the beginner lift that used to run behind the Trailside condos is gone so for real beginners the only choice is the rope tow until they can get to the top of the mountain.

I realize it isn't southern VT - but for the money, you can't beat Sugarbush's deal. For each adult season, pass you get a kid under 12 for free. A family of 4 can get unlimited skiing for 2000. That is a deal.

Check ou the gore/whiteface pass for the family. If you do non holiday i think you are going to see that the deal is hard to beat. Gore is 1.2 and whiteface is 2.15 from Albany.

Gore is as close as any hill in Southern Vermont and IMO better. Less crowds better terrain.

+1 - Gore would be perfect for you and you could do some weekends at WF too.

So why get a season pass?

I suggest you look at the family benefits of joining a ski club for ~$30 a season and go to the Ski Council days. You get the benefit of skiing more mountains and do not have to commit up front. Google CT Ski Council and look at the "Benefits" tab to review the vast number of ski council days.

I will have a hard time making a decision, but I have a few more months before I have to make one.
