anyone been to wildcat lately, wanna go up on saterday or sunday. I went there 2 weeks ago before the rain and warmth and there was an okay cover. Dont know how the cover could still be good but they are still 100% open. I think they have a few giant mounds of snow to push around. Just wondering how they were doin.

The weather of late has been so spectacular....I just spent the day around the Sugarloaf/Saddleback areas of Maine, breaking in new hiking boots with some short hikes off of #16 and around the Saddleback Mtn. resort itself. Yes, last day for Saddleback this season...had some deer cross the road in front of my parked XTerra and saw my first young bull moose of the Spring, still with some of his winter coat. Tossing the 5yo, overly-forward leaning-tower Atomics and breaking in the ever-comfortable hiking boots is a trade in gear that I'm ready for....

I'm done

I'm done for the season. Yesterday was a nice bluebird day, skied Lincoln Peak in the morn then drove over to Mt Ellen for a couple of runs. Yesterday, I think, was the last day at Lincoln Pk which wasn't hard to figure since the open terrain was pretty limited. Much more terrain open at Mt Ellen.

Decent cover but by 11AM you were pushing alot of heavy mashed potatoes. Very uncrowded..think there were more people biking around the valley than skiing. Both Stein and Ripcord had nice moguls, especially in the early morn. Murphy Glades seemed to have the best conditions.

Mt Ellen is planning to be open for 3 more weeks for those whose have to ski until the last lift stops spinning. The superpipe is really built up so that should be fine at least awhile.

Re: I'm done

I'll correct my previous post.. Skiing at Lincoln Peak At Sugarbush ended yesterday the 10th, my mistake.

Mt. Ellen will be open full swing (mid week and weekends until the 24th) then $5 for the WEEKEND of April 31, and May 1st.

The skiing at Mt. Ellen was GREAT yesterday, as were the bumps on Ripcord at Lincoln Peak, but it got really sticky and mushy over there fast, so I went back to Mt. Ellen to hit the bumps on Exterminator a few more times.
oh, and the sun was incredible. I almost fell asleep at lunch on the deck at Mt Ellen. ahh.. spring skiing...

the deck

My buddy and I were also on the deck at around 2PM, enjoying the sun and a cold draft. Didn't notice anyone sleeping....lol

The view of the superpipe is amazing from the deck and watching these little kids going up and down the pipe trying tricks was fun.

yah, the view there is great! Too bad they were playing some really crappy music when I was up there. I had considered getting a beer, but that would have definately put me out. I needed ehydration yesterday, I was sweating buckets from all the bump runs. I was there until 1:30! I was wearing my hunter orange bike jersey because it was so warm out!:)

Windham closed 04/03 due to rain & runoff flooding the base lodge.

Welcome to the boards, Stache. Glad to have a Windham connection in here and another view from the Empire State. :) Looking forward to seeing you more often in here.

I thought so too until I asked around yesterday, then checked the website today....

weird! I bet they could have pulled it off.. oh well..

Going on how much terrain was open, the few skiers, I thought there was no reason to be open yesterday. Sure, there were some trails in decent shape but not enough to be open especially in view of the fact Mt. Ellen was still going strong.

Yeah, I was really surprised that there was almost no one at South! Big difference at North though, it looked like the usual mid season crowd there. (and much better snow!)

oh, and about the landing light, nope-I'm usually one of those beacons on the towers in Waterbury :) hehe...

Can't believe you guys are saying there was not much skiing at South!

Other than Castlerock every area had tons of skiing and great snow! As for nobody being there... That reeeeally wasn't a problem to me.

So sorry to see it go. I got off the last lift at 3:55 having said goodbye to my all the open trails but Paradise and Spillsville.
