Sizewize, no question they are the "big daddy" here in the northeast, no one even comes close. I know they have a great snowmaking system because when they put in the new snowmaking pond, ASC took the Bush's snowmaking guru and put him down there to oversee the project. Knowing that plus other factors I expect kmart to lead the charge in situations like this and they have, all season long.

Not confirmed yet but I bet the IMM who put this site up was a lone wolf.

The irony here is that, although what Okemo did was dead wrong, Killington is no angel when it comes to "snow reporting" and "trail count". Is Lower Great Eastern still the liftline?

Another point that seems to be missing is that the facts determining size has gotten alot more complicated than it used to be. It used to be just the number of trails open but now you have the number of acres and miles of terrain as well.

Marketing departments can and will use any of those figures to make them look better. When just looking at the % of terrain open, a silly stat indeed, and according to snocountry.com this morning Okemo does have a higher % of terrain open than kmart. They are not lying just using the stats that give the appearance they are doing the better job.

Everyone does this and is, unfortunately, considered acceptable nowadays. Okemo's claim to have the most percentagewise is all of New England was a flat out lie, they changed it but like someone else said alot of places do this but to put up the website, doesn't matter who exactly did it, was a very bad idea, went way over the line, and as Andyzee said will come back to bite them in the butt.

The saddest part is that kmart might have had nothing to do with the website but will look bad nonetheless.

Can we all agree that if Thanksgiving Weekend hadn't been a bust, Christmas week marginal, and last weekend a meterological phenomena leading into the big MLK weekend that this wouldn't be an issue.

If the NOAA El Nino report from yesterday happens to pan out  :smash: :uzi: :puke: I can't wait to see what the marketing folks might be upto by Presidents week :spin: :spin: :spin:

Remember the old sign at the loaf that read: 'If you were at Sunday River now you would already be at the top', whats the difference?

I do remember that sign.

When I shivered my way past that sign, knowing that I had another twenty minutes on the chair(s) before getting to the top of Narrow Gauge (and then standing around and freezing while waiting for my start time), I remained unconvinced that being at the top already would be such a bad thing.
