Let's have a little contest to see who can be the most accurate in predicting the ski areas that open first.

Guess which ski area will open first in:
A) Vermont
B) New Hampshire
C) Maine
D) New York
E) Massachusetts

As a tiebreaker, guess the opening date of Killington.

Editing will disqualify you. (Except for this information post!)

I purposely left out Connecticut because we all know that Ski Sundown is the master of all things Connecticut. Rumor has it that they are on the hill now with microplanes shaving store bought ice to get a base down.

Since you brought that up this isn't much of a horse race. A and C are no-brainers and B is an extremely logical guess. I know crap-all about ski areas in Mass and NY.

Hasn't tiny Woodbury historically been the first to open in the east? From their home page...

"in continuance with our longstanding tradition of making snow as early as possible we opened first in the state-- opening day was 10/26/2013!"

Don't know if this tradition will continue now that their long time owner has passed on.

I will cast an optimistic vote for wildcat - otherwise it will be Bretton Woods.

If I was the manager at Wildcat I would make sure that it opens first in NH after last year's disaster

Killington and Sunday River are obvious. New Hampshire could be a contest. It will not be Loon. Bretton Woods is the obvious choice, but maybe Wildcat will roar this year.

I was also going to ask about Woodbury.

As for our here, either A-Basin or Loveland.

Utah: Brighton or Solitude.
