Sunday River does charge I think $10 for close parking at South Ridge on weekends, but there is plenty of free parking everywhere else, along with walks of no more than 3-4 minutes (Barker up to 5-6 minutes). On the busiest days, shuttles serve an outer parking lot.

This applies to the Barker lot too. However, the charged parking really is a preferred parking slot from 7 am to 10 am. For daytrippers from Boston like me, we usually get to SR at around 10 am so if you time it right, you can get to park at the preferred parking slots for free. Just like with good powder skiing, get there as they drop the ropes!

I have timed many 10:00 arrivals myself! for those that may not know, the paid preferred parking is a seasonal thing, not daily.

Attitash also charges (something like $10 or $20) for parking in the small lot next to their main lodge. It's also only on peak / weekend days.

They have some serious traffic problems there at the end of busy days because their main lot is across the street. There are lots of people walking across the busy Rt 302 to get their cars, then driving back across the street and backing up traffic to pick up their gear / families. It's a PITA.

I park at Bear Peak for this reason. The situation there is the opposite. IMO Bear has the best parking setup in New England convenience-wise.

With all the changes at Bear Peak last year (lowering the trail ratings, moving the terrain park), the crowds have definitely picked up and the lot is often near full. I wish all the "families" would go back to the other side. It is definitely very convenient for lugging gear to and from the car. Parking there also means you have to take 302 back past the Attitash base if you are heading back to North Conway so you really aren't saved all that much time.

It is $20 for valet parking. They are based out of the top most lot, which is not open for regular parking anyway, so no spots were taken away from regular free parking.

Yeah I was gonna say that. Jiminy lots fill up quick and leave you walking up a long hill if you don't catch the shuttle.. but there's no areas of the lot where you have to pay to park (unless valet).
