A dumb and quick one for those of you who perhaps work within the ski industry.

Today and the previous couple days I have noticed on my travels in the Sunapee, Upper Valley, and Lakes Regions of New Hampshire that alot of Ski Reps traveling around (sales I would imagine). I know we are heading into the ski season, but I always assumed that a majority of their work would be done much earlier than this, perhaps I could be wrong. Just curious if the more noticeable pressence is just random or do they actually do alot of their sales/rep work now? I mean it's not uncommon in the UV to see the rep trucks out and about as I believe we have Diablo, Atomic, Nitro and others that have major operations in West Leb and surrounding areas. Again I apologize for the random and perhaps dumb question.

Thanks

Nowadays as you surmises the sales are made but servicing the accounts keeps them busy until the ski season is well underway.

Starting next week in our shop as well as many others, reps will come in to go over the products for the new hires and the experienced staff will be given the once thru on new products. It's not just ski/board manufacturers. It's also the poles, goggles, helmets, gloves, etc.

Another part of the service portion this time of the year of their job is to handle/fix shipping/order snafus. When the Oakly rep comes in we have a fun game where we all speed change goggle lenses, fastest person wins some nice shwag. Knowing the product is essential in helping a customer find the right product.

Once the ski season get going there the reps keep busy with a few trade shows, setting up a sales/marketing tent at big resort events and servicing the shops for new orders(they hope) and other troubleshootong.

Yeah, it's clinic time for all the shops plus there are all sorts of race and pro fit events all over ski country. Fischer, Tecnica/blizzard, nordica, marker/volkl, elan, and dalbello are all located in NH...atomic moved to Ogden a few years ago.
