I’ve rented a house with a bunch of people several times for a week and I’ve stayed with a buddy who had a share at a house at K-mart a bunch of times. In both situations I had a lot of fun.

However, I’ve never had a share in a house for a full season with a lot of people. Those of you who have must have some great stories that are house related, parties, hook ups, fights, etc. How about posting them here?

Never rented or stayed in a ski house, but a guy we knew back in college; well his dad owned a really cool A-frame right on Ascutney. One time we drove up in a snow storm, partied all night. Then it was time to break out the tobaggan and hike the hill! On one run, me and my buddy's girlfriend almost launched off a 6 foot wall. We then had a few more uneventful runs down the ski trails. Probably around 2 am in the morning, my buddy grabbed it and rode it himself all the way down past the base to the main road. Being a bit disoriented from the night's events he got lost and didn't show up back at the house until like 5 in the morning. Luckily it was a mild night (the snow changed to rain) but he was soaked. Seemed pretty funny at the time...

When I was in high school my parents and the rest of our family would rent a ski house for new years. One year we rented a HUGE home I would guess it would go for a few million...anyway as we were starting to pack up the house my dad told me to empty the ash in the fire place and put the bag of ashes out the back door in the snow...which I did. A few hours laster somebody started yelling fire..fire. We all rain out side and noticed the garage was on fire and burning away. We called 911 and started working on putting out the fire. By the time the fire dept got to the house the fire was out but half of the garage was burt as well as the sweet red porshe that was parked inside. As it turned out someone thought the ashes that were outside were from the night before and put them in the can that was inside the garage. Come to think of it that was the last time we all rented a house together.

Jeez. I have endless KMart share house stories.

One of the women in my share house was dating a Wall Street type. A waspy inbred GQ type with an impressive family petigree but not exactly an intellectual giant. He had a brand-new Range Rover back around 1990 when that was the ultimate status symbol. One snowy night he got it "stuck" in our parking lot. I went out and watched. The moron didn't have it in 4WD and had no idea that there was a control to engage 4WD. I reached in, engaged 4WD, and said "try it now". It, of course, exited our driveway like it was on dry road.

The year before that, I had to toss one of the guys out of my share house. He'd comitted house incest and then broke up with the woman. At the end of the season, it was "One of you have to go. She's been in the house longer so you have to go." We were at a huge early May party at another share house where he was slotted in for the next winter. My friend got completely drunk guzzling a fifth of Jack Daniels. He was last seen running down the dirt driveway, huge face plant, get up, disappear into the darkness. About an hour later, it was decided that we probably should go out and look for him. He was found passed out in the crook of a tree 50 feet off the road. We put him on the hood of a car and drove him back to the house like a dead deer.

One of my roommates Murph was incredibly lucky with women. He picked up this woman Erin on a bar crawl and brought her back to the house. Turns out Erin was engaged and every weekend, she'd sneak out and do the dirty with Murph. I was pretty amazed that Murph got invited to the wedding that summer.

Then there was the time we got sued. The woman in the 1st story and the guy in the 2nd story were an early season 'item'. The woman was running the share house at the time and got the room that slept two. She was sharing her bed (sleeping). Her roommate was a psychobabe. Psychobabe would come back from a 1am bar crawl and wake up the whole house complaining that there was a "guy" sleeping in her room. The other rooms were co-ed so she was out of luck. After 3 or 4 weekends of this, we'd had enough and voted her out of the house and gave her a pro-rated refund for her share. She sued us in Roxbury (Mass) small claims court. The yuppie share house case among all the ghetto fraud by check and nonpayment cases. When our case came up, she did this huge rant at the judge and said "the place is a f**k farm". With that, the judge threw the case out. "The F**k Farm" became our new share house name for several years.

Excellent stories Geoff, you really did not need to say it was Kmart, that's textbook for there.

Friends of mine had a house there as well for a few years and one year they decided to rent a Softub for the season. Pretty much everyone who used it ended up with a weird rash. No one has ever fessed up as to donating the bacteria...

It didn't come from the bacteria..............

Most likely the rash was due to Bromine based chemicals used in the tub. Bromine based chemicals are much cheaper, and so are getting more widespread use. Problem is, Bromine has a tendency to cause rashes on many.

Every year, my wifes college friends share a house near Stratton for a long weekend. This has gone on for about 16 years. Now it includes spouses and kids and all the attendant gear.

When we first started doing this, about the only thing we brought was beer.

Now, we bring fiber.

There was a company selling stuff called "Bacquicel" that was real popular for swimming pools a while back. Not sure on the spelling. I believe that was bromine based.
