Sitting here watching ski porn got me thinking...what's everyone do? Do you throw yourself into the preseason excitement or try to keep it at bay? What's your reasoning for the choice or is there no choice?

Me: No choice, abandon all hope of being COMPLETELY happy until the first run of the season. But I love the anticipation almost as much as the act....Does that make me an addict?:snow:

No ski jones here. Major gear jones though ;) Last season I got through my major ski jones by watching lots of ski porn. During the Summer and Fall this year I have driven myself crazy pairing down a short list of possible powder boards for the up coming season. The Fischer Watea 94 has risen to the top of the short list. Thankfully, these boards are still at full pre-season pricing which will allow me to resist pulling the trigger until after I demo

Gear jonesing is just another way of dealing with the addiction. That's next on the list to help deal with it...go grab some new gloves, thermals, socks etc...just an excuse to hit the local ski shop.

I can't deny it, I've watched Snow Gods, Born From Ice, or Schooled almost every day. I can't wait until Saturday to go to the ski shop and get my new boards mounted, get new poles and rent my son's skis and boots.

iTunes has full Ski Movies (War, Booter Crunk, Pop Yer Bottles, and High Life) for $1.99 if anyone wants to watch them on tiny screens while taking a crap.

Is it a requiremen that you have to be taking a crap to be watching them?

I like a nice firm BM as much as the next guy, but I just don't have that much stored up dookie.

Getting my boots fitted last week was a mistake and really put me over the edge. Especially when he told me to go do some skiing before I come back. :smash:

I put them back in the box and slid them into the back of the closet, so I don't have to think about them.

I think about skiing every single day. There's no way I could ever deny it. I ramble on to people that probably couldn't give a shit about skiing. Sometimes I need to stop myself.

I do too.

But I stopped talking about it because most people are probably sick of it.

Except for people here.

The island of misfit toys.
Since I work from home, I am able to do silly things like wearing the liners from my new boots to help break them in (which I am doing as I type this).

At least this group understands

Indeed.
In the winter TR's, anecdotes, etc make this an amusing, and occasionally useful board.
During the summer, it's more like a text-based support group.

I've been trying to be patient this year, not buying gear, (other than for the wife) not obsessing, etc.

But now it's October, and I'm feeling the URGE coming back strong. I'm finding myself looking at snowmaking shots from Loveland, CO every day. The coming weeks, are always the hardest.

What I always find amusing, is the first day of skiing in NE, no matter where is open first, it's always a day of massive lines, one White Ribbon of Death, and total exhaustion after a few hours of skiing.

So much build up, but you really can't feed the jones until mid/late December, unless there are big dumps, or back to back storms to deliver the goods.

I bought War a couple weeks ago and it actually looks damn near DVD quality when watching it full screen on my 15 inch laptop. The portability is just a bonus.
