I just got a call from a saleperson asking if they could add insurance coverage to my Ski credit card. I politely listened to the schpeel and said "Thank you but no." The woman gave me the predictable response and tried again. I politely waited 'til she took a breath and said, "Thank you but no." The same thing happened again and I said no for the third time. She again started her schpeel and I hung up on her. Wow!

Another weird thing was that she kept asking, "I just need to verify that you still live in Massachusetts."

That's one of the reasons why I'm on the Connecticut and Federal Do Not Call lists... I also have caller ID and if the number shows up as "unknown" I don't answer.
That said, I have in my experience had as many as 9 credit cards at the same time--I've had multiple calls like the one you received (before caller ID days) and I used to just hang up on them. They just can't take "no" for an answer...

I have not had that happen on any of my credit cards. The Do Not Call list rocks! No more telemarketers with the exception of solicitations from companies that you already do business with. Most of the Privacy Policies allow companies to share information amongst themselves and therefore that form of telemarketing is "allowed" unless you specifically informed the company that you do not want ANY info sharing.

The only company that seems aggressively to want to promote products & services with me is Wells Fargo. Every other day I look on my caller ID box and they are on there. They hit me up once for financial services.

I opted out of info sharing to third parties but not to other divisions of Wells Fargo.

If you want to stop telemarketing or mailings, read the Privacy Policy of each company and if they do sell info to third parties you want to opt out. You can do it sometimes by calling a phone number provided or by stating it in writing. Also, get on the Do Not Call Registry (nationaly and or at a state level)
