I used to read both many years ago but found there was very little focus on the East Coast, so I dropped both subscriptions. I just buy the gear catalog each year.
Have they gotten any better recording the east coverage, and would you recommend one over the other?
Got Ski two days ago.
Got mine yesterday. Looks like my skis made the cut. I'm still mystified by their classification. Last year the Rossi Z9 was classified in the AME Speed category but now it's in Aspiring Expert. Unless Rossi adjusted the flex, from the looks of it, it's still the same ski with different graphics.
Yup, mine came in yesterday, too. Interestingly, they have more Dynastar skis than Skiing did. Something tells me Ski is a little more ad-driven in their testing. The reviews I cross-checked seemed to match up pretty well, though.
Actually got 2 copies- one I paid for, and one courtesy of Wachusett Mountain. Still haven't figured out how that one works.
Which skis are tested depend on what the manufacturer sends to the test...not on ad $$...don't be so jaded!
As for the 2nd copy...if you do any NASTAR events at Wally-world, they give you a free subscription...so do some resorts for purchasing a pass.
I agree that the Z11 is appropriate in that category. In that case, Rossi should have 2 skis being considered in the AME Speed category this year: the Z11 and the Z9. I always believed that it was the construction that determined the classification. Now, if it's an attempt to give face time to both skis by splitting them to 2 different categories to boost sales, then that's another matter altogether.Same ski...but they came out with the Z-11, a step above the Z9 and its got the goofy arms to change the flex...its a more appropriate model for the AME speed category.
The 2nd copy is odd, because I've never skied at Wachusett, and I've never bought a season pass, anywhere. Free stuff is great, don't get me wrong, but it's still odd.
