Was just looking up information on the upcoming ski porn season. Looks like Warren Miller hasn't announced dates and perks quite yet.

Teton Gravity has published their schedule:

Teton tends not to have as many freebies, but many moocho giveaways.

And the BEST news, last years Warren Miller Playground will be released on Blue Ray in October.

Does Meathead ever do any live showings?

I love their DVD's, but I've always pegged it lower on the 'pre-season exite-o-meter'.

Yes. They post their tour dates and locations on their web site. I was hoping they would do something around Albany, but it doesn't look good.

I thought Playground was awful last year. (awful being relative as it was ski porn)

Saw TGR, Matchstick and WM premieres last year and Playground was at the bottom by a mile.

I mean, chunks of the movie were lifted from X games coverage. product's gone down the drain since the kids took over.

I have to agree, in part. I *DID* enjoy the kids having a section of the movie, and it certainly caught the eye my 9 and 13 year old. I thought Playground was good, but it would rate lower then Storm, Journey, Impact, or Higher ground. That was a good 4 year streak IMHO.

TGR def came out well last year.

just an FYI:

I was referring to Warren's kid (Kurt I think) that's taken over and diluted the product. No one from the actual movie.

*nod* I don't recall where I read it, but someone had at some point interviewed him recently and Warren himself had mentioned he was disappointed in the quality. I'll see if I can find the quote someplace, quick search online didn't reveal it directly.

The last one that really pulled me in was Journey, and that was back in '03. Agreed, Playground was pretty awful. But the free stuff and the mere fact that it's any ski porn is enough to drag me in this year.

Somerville and Boston are listed here. Nothing about other locations.

Yea, those are the ones populated from TicketMaster.

Looks like tickets go on sale on the 17th. Date wise it also looks like the shows in New England will be in the area around the second week of November.

I did a small experiment last night, and I have to change my opinion. I watched Off the grid, and then Wanderland. Off the grid was more awe, watching it with the kids, kinda like watching the patriots. But after watching Wanderland, we all pretty much seemed to agree that Wanderland actually made us 'want to be skiing' more. I think a whole lot of it had to do with the, 'Hey, I could do that', vs the, 'OMG, I wish I could do that, but I know damned right well I never will'.

the last two nights I've watched ski porn with my 3yr old daughter....first night was Ski Movie 2 High Society...she kept saying "I can do that when you teach me". All day yesterday she kept telling anyone and everyone "I'm going to watch a ski movie with my daddy tonight" so we threw in the new Fischer team movie, Ressurection...pretty good for a company promo, heavy on the skiing and light on the marketing, a mix of pow and park, and a great soundtrack. Once again she kept saying "I can do that when you teach me" nearly brought tears to her old man's eyes...and my wife was calling her my mini-me. My stoke-o-meter was already high, but listening to my 3yr old ask when she can go skiing is making me twitch with pride and anticipation...they've got a weather meter in her classroom...she turned it to snow yesterday .:snow: I love that kid!
