Interesting bit from their website:

WE ARE MAKING SNOW TONIGHT! We want you to have the best spring conditions ever. To keep the whole mountain open we are blowing snow all night. The lower temperatrures at 4120' elevation allow us to have good snow coverage whether natural or man made throughout the spring season. Fresh new white snow, oh boy, oh boy.

Pretty cool, give them a few more years and they'll be giving Sugarloaf and Sunday River a run for the money. The more the merrier!

Wow. Great to hear. Maybe Killington should think of doing something like that.

Not going to happen this year.

K will either have a normal season next year (like every other resort), or will be going to June, I'm hoping for #2.

saddleback has the potential to win killington or any other resort in late closing. they just need some people to show up. the snow holds in northern maine much better than vermont imho.

Hmmmmm, how about these events/entertainment/ideas......
naked dancing girls might work
Stripper Appreciation Day
Pay to close every golf course
in the NYC area for a weekend.....
Turn in Your Gun Day--turn in one of your weapons and receive a free lift ticket, AK-47's gets ya 2 tiks, to benefit the Rutland Young Hunters Club, extra bonus......front rows seats for Stripper Appreciation Day.

The Sledhauler and I were just at Saddleback this past Sunday. Although they had just roped some of their expert terrain due to the rain/freeze issues of last week, we found impressive and ample coverage on most trails with hardly any thin spots at all. I was most impressed with their coverage and can only see this snowmaking effort as a PR stunt (though more snow can't hurt!). I like the cavalier attitude. One great thing about Saddleback is they own a huge lake for snow making, so they have an unlimited water supply. They are only limited by energy and personnel costs.

Saddleback could win the "Last Man Standing" award for the season, I'll be sure to mention Saddleback to Bianca at Equity tours, she is looking for a very late
season option for some never ever skiers and riders.

The smart money says kmart will do whatever it takes to put/keep snow on Superstar to make the May 6th closing making them the last resort open which no doubt will be plastered on all their brochures/advertising for next year. Same MO as before, just a month earlier.

Also, don't count out Woodbury, to put in a very respectable showing, considering.

One thing to keep in mind, Killington is sold. Why would ASC spend more money than they need to?
