Just starting out with downhill sking and snow boarding, and have a question regarding clothing. I have two teenagers, both needing ski outfits. Given that they are still growing, I plan on renting the skies, snow board, and boots. But what is one to do about the clothing (jacket, pants, etc)?

I'm not in that position yet, but I imagine that hitting up the thrift shops and ski swaps would be a good idea. I think that ski swaps usually have clothing as well as gear anyway.

Another option is pre season tent sales, I think Ski Huas already had theirs. Been going for the past three years to outfit my kid.

Can't say first hand since Nov is always a busy time for me, the Boston Ski Expo coming up may be a good one, I heard that they have large discount for soft gear.

Good gloves, neck-gators and well fitting boots will probably be more important in keeping them warm, and ergo happy. Plenty of kids just wear regular winter clothes starting out.
Good point, keep it simple and cheap until you get hooked...;-)

I'd make sure, however, that they at least have some snow pants; all it will take is a fall or two in jeans to be pretty miserable.

IMO a basic set of non-cotton long underwear is also a good idea.

Great Snowboard Clothing.

I had a problem with kids not wanting to keep their hats on....My kids like mascots, so I found a little known site http://theomb.com that has a really cute monkey as the mascot that appears on all the clothes...so now they can not wait to put the benies on....
