The good stuff...
I got out for a few runs after work today, I just had to because...
The bumps on Exhibition were rebuilt this morning I saw the groomer pushing the last few piles at the bottom when I arrived at 6am. I was pleasantly surprised! They are WAY longer and much wider than before. Starting from the flat section, at least as high as they started last year (if not higher), and running all the way down until it flattens out (further than last year). I'd say it's at least 3 lanes wider than they were earlier this year. They skied pretty damn good too. There are several funky ones, a few are too widely spaced, and there were still some of those big cookie chunks that are the result of using the cat to make piles... Other than that they were great, a good surface and some good stretches of nice turns (if you could hold the line through all the flailers.). Very impressed with the effort, hopefully they hold up to all the abuse they take from the less skilled crowd. Chris tells me that they're going to top coat them tonight, so they should be even more betterer.
The Nor'Easter bumps were also skiing REALLY good, the snow they made on top of them was really really nice and powdery (as powdery as man-made can get). There was even an interesting line forming to the skier's right of what was the right most line at the top. I can totally see why they need to plow and reset them, there's some pretty gnarly snow-making whales on the skier's left and even the middle. However, the right was skiing so nice today it's kinda shame they have too..
Overall I was very impressed with the conditions today... At least where I skied, I can't speak for the rest of the mountain since I only skied Nor'easter and the Ex bumps all of 4 times.
I also spied the border cross course for tomorrow from the lift, it looks really interesting. There's a giant mound at the top of upper Nor'easter for the start gates.
