Date(s) Skied: Friday, 1/4/2008, 7:20pm - 9:20pm
Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, Connecticut
Conditions: 23*F, clear skies, blowing snow all over the mountain. Fresh manmade, packed manmade, hardpack, scraped with ice
Trip Report: Arrived to a lot full of buses - forgot about the kids being bussed in on Friday nights. Thought for sure this would result in long lift lines, but it wasn't bad. Apparently, they were leaving around when I arrived anyway.
Tonight was mostly devoted to working on technique based on this video I watched earlier today. Found success right away on Sensation and Big Bend with implementing tonight's focus (leaning forward more to get out of the backseat and working on smoother turns by steering more with knees). Though as soon as I moved over to Canyon Run, it was a little harder to keep it going on the steeper terrain.
Regardless, fun runs tonight. With the snow blowing everywhere there was a pretty equal mix of snow conditions. Kept me on my toes. Top of Nor'Easter was scraped in the middle with ice, mostly packed powder or hardpack otherwise on Canyon Run, Tom's Treat, and Papoose. Exhibition was a mixed bag of everything. Still having foot/boot issues, unfortunately, but at least my skis were cooperating.
BTW, I didn't see anyone on the Nor'Easter bumps. Are you guys the only ones who use them? LOL!
