Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT
Conditions: Mid 20s, calm, clear. Machine Groomed Packed Manmade
Trip Report: DEAD. I had the slopes to myself from about 8:30-9:15AM when only a few started showing on the hill. Did they forget Sundown was opening at 8AM today? Fresh cord on just about every run. Knee is still bothering me so I put on the Cho-Pat to see if that would help (got it for running) and it did. Stuck to blues because of the knee, so Canyon and Nor'Easter/Exhibition. First couple runs were tricky between figuring out how trustworthy my knee was and working in new-to-me boots. Left boot needs some work around the heel. But after a few runs, feet and legs were warmed up and I was having a blast.
That elusive peace washed over me and I just couldn't stop smiling. I meant to ski until 10:30AM, cutting it short because I still have a lot to do today, but miscalculated and walked into the lodge again around 10AM. Still, great way to start the day. It was still mostly quiet on the hill when I left. GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY IT!!!
