The first one is supposed to illustrate what she calls ice.

Jeff says that the conditions in general are packed powder.

I bet the bumps that matter are in good shape right now, more snowmaking and some natural will only make them better. There were a few slick spots in those upper bumps last night, but nothing terrible.

Just back from skiing. They did blow snow on the bumps and from watching people the top section skied fine, right after the merge they seemed to be icy and people would loose their line/balance after hitting it. Also at the merge it looks like they ran a groomer down the side for some reason. I have no idea how the bottom half was since I didn't go down.

All in all conditions were great on the groomers and skied with Carrie most of the morning.

Keep those effin cats out of there! ;) Seriously bummer that the mashed any of those bumps that turn down towards the Temptor flats. I like that little drop, short and funky, but it's a fun turn. I'd imagine that they wanted to break up and groom the flats. There was some serious slick hard pack in there right before the drop into the bumps on lower. That or maybe they built some rad tabletops or something.... ;)

Glad you had a fun session. How are the quick turns coming along?

I have found in order the get nice quick turns I have to be going pretty fast on these skis which I am sure will equal disaster in the bumps for me.

Hopefully they get the other bumps up soon or I will be heading over to the park with my twin tips

Send Carrie down there for some pics! ;)
 You should have seen my attempt today. I ended up on my belly with my skis in 2 different directions and I literally ate snow. Oh yeah, and I was facing uphill after I went down.

The ice was in the trough in that first picture, BTW. Or diesel. I don't know, it smelled like diesel around there for some reason.

I got up to Sundown later than I planned this morning. Saw the cool "fog" of the snowmaking from 229; really cool sight. Was on the snow around 9AM, at which time the snowmaking ceased. Took my first 2 runs down Canyon Run>Exhibition, then Jeff found me in line. The rest of the time I skied with Jeff, we skied Nor'Easter>Exhibition. Jeff will downplay his abilities but he's a really good skier; fast, too. I definitely couldn't keep up with him. Still, I had a blast. The Joyriders were great in the snow, I really didn't have any problems with the transitions of hardpack to chopped up stuff. Smiles were abundant. The company was nice. After Jeff left, I went for 2 more runs down Canyon>Exhibition and both of those were non-stop top to bottom. :D Finished up around 12:30ish, I think. I would have happily stayed longer but I have other things I need to do today.

Great skiing with you, Jeff! You make me ski faster which is a GOOD thing. :spread:

You need to learn to ski a flatter ski to get the quick bump turns down. Don't put them up on edge so much and try to skid your turns. Probably a complete 180 from everything else you've learned. Bumps are a totally different animal.

I wasn't going to mention this but it was quite entertaining to watch, the spitting of snow end topped it off perfectly!

Thanks Carrie, the past two time out I have built lots of confidence in myself and found the "sweet spot" of the skis. We'll have to see how I hold up on steeper more challenging terrain.

Your doing great too, your form and turns are a lot more consistent than mine, I am just throwing the speed into it for fun!
