What started a scenic drive up route 7 in MA ended up being a ~10 hour drive-a-thon that I now refer to as a dry run for ski trips yet to come this season. We ended up going all the way up 7 to 30/11 and then took 11 across to 103 to 91. Along the way we stopped at Jiminy and Magic and gawked at Bromley when we drove by and Stratton from afar. Unfortunately I didn't get to witness any snow-making, but the frozen roads warning came on in the dash briefly (when it gets below 40F). ;) All in all 311 miles traveled today with a little over 8 hours of actual driving time, just short of 10 hours total time with all the stops (that ended up being a bit too long of a trip for a 2 year old and a 5 month old, the dog didn't seem to mind too much though. ;) ).

Can you tell that I'm psyched for the season to begin! :snow: :snow:

Little did I know that the whole reason for this trip was to see that "little snowflake" light up on the dash. ;) Too bad I couldn't get him to go to the Woodstock Station like I wanted to get some Autumn Brew... he could have checked out Cannon and Loon, at least. :D

I think it was too cold for it to come on this morning, 30F. I don't remember it being on anyway..

Of what? Green trails, or screaming kids with 2 hours to go? Didn't take any pics, even though we had the good camera with us...

I can tell you that Magic had a bunch of fan guns lined up in the base area, 10 or so I'd guess. I'd have rather seen them on the trails and running though.. ;)

Jiminy had quite a bit of activity going on, a lot of MTBer's I guess..

How sad is it that we're reporting when the snowflake indicator comes on in our cars???

Mine was on this morning, 34F at 7:30am in NW CT.. ;)

I want to make a "Ragged" dry run soon... I thought I was the only one that did that sort of thing.

You're not. Although this trip didn't start out as a dry run, it was supposed to just be a scenic drive, I did have the idea of getting up to VT to check out some areas in the back of my mind...

You guys are NUTS!

I was going to say the same thing..but I drive enough in everyday life and for skiing that I don't like to drive for the sake of driving. When I first got my drivers liscense..I would just go on 3 hour long drives for the fun of it..

I knew another parent would appreciate that aspect of the trip. ;)

It did feel nice to get up into ski country, even if it's not quite ski country yet. I wish I knew that K-Mart was making snow in the day light hours, I would have made the push to head up there to see it in person... :)

i got a headache just reading your post.

The golden triangle of bromley/stratton/magic offers some cool views from rt 11.

I wish we were able to stop and enjoy the views more, but by that point we already knew we were pushing it time wise...
