Boys, have a mountain shop tune your stuff. The mechanics at the areas will be more in tune with your needs.

Tell that to a friend of mine who took his snowboard to the shop at WaWa and when he got it back they'd put the wrong angle bevel on the board edge. Couldn't be re-beveled because they took too much of the edge off. When he confronted the manager, he said "well, your board requires a different bevel than the Burtons we're used to seeing - you should have told us before-hand so we'd know."

Yeah... the mountain shop will know what they're doing. Sure they will.

I think this is a start to a good Thread How to tune your own skiis!

It's really easy.

Have one of the ski shops at Killington run your credit card for $129.00.

Drop your skis on Sunday as you're coming off the mountain.

Pick them up perfectly tuned before you start your Friday evening bar crawl.

I may catch flack like there's no tommorow for this, but..

WaWa ski shops are like try to get steak at 7-11 in the microwave...

I think you should start a blog and out them!!!

If I were the owner of the shop, the employee would be fired and you would receive free tunes for the rest of the season.

TJF, it sounds like you need a better and more trustworthy shop. Give Nate a call at five-one-eight-524-3996. He used to work at Boardertown but now runs his own shop called "The Slides". He's got better equipment than most shops in Lake Placid and way more experience (charges less too). He's always done a top notch job on my gear and is especially good at base welds. He even picks up and delivers at the mountain.

Amen, nuff of that crap going around already

Lay offs are one thing. But if an employee "stole" this guys skis and used them; I see nothing wrong with termination. If I owned a small business, I wouldn't want a dishonest employee. If he's morally flexible enough to steal someone's skis for an afternoon, what else is he (or she) doing?

I'd imagine an apology from the guilty party and a complete base refurbishing would go a long way.

That's for sure. There are certainly a lot of different angles and situations. I've learned in life not everything is 100% black and white; and solved in a 1/2 hour like on TV.

sorry to hear that.

They could have dropped the ski on the belt sander.

A tune shop once f'ed up my skies so bad it took 2 more tunings to get them right again.
