Death at Okemo

Now, I certainly feel bad for both the deceased, and the injured instructor; but if I have to go at age 79, that's what I want to be doing when it happens.

No hospitals, no tubes, no drugs, except some nice white powder!

A very unfortunate situation. My condolances to the family and friends of the departed, and best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery for the injured.

Situations like this always leave me wondering if a medical issue preceeded the collision? (Unfortunatly, reality is not CSI. We may never know.)

of course this is an unfortunate accident and i am not trying to take anything away from this poor man's death. but... anybody notice the tone and headline difference when compared to the story of the snowboarder hitting the skier? there are obvious differences in each situation. its almost as if because of his age there was no way he could possibly be out of control. notice the headline doesn't say "skier collides with snowboarder"? would it have been an "unfortunate accident" if it were a young male snowboarder killed colliding with a skier? (of course it would, but would it be reported as such?)

How is this possible?

"It was an unfortunate accident," he said. "I wouldn't say either party was skiing out of control."

Give me a break. In either case...whether it being a trail merge or whatever, the rules of skiing...the code...if followed, eliminates collisions....someone f'ed up

This scares me the most brining my kids skiing...

Skkiing has been, and always will be, a collision sport...usually it's me and the mountain...

The mountain usually wins
