You know what's a funny twist for me as an old guy who used to own good home stereo systems? Driving alone in my car is now my most thrilling way to experience music. At home I play it through lousy computer or bluetooth speakers. And I'm not really an earbud/headphone person.

But in a car with my wife out of earshot, I can crank-it! Last night I drove home 3 hrs from a solo ski day. I re-discovered three good songs for MORE COWBELL:

Less cowbell, but really good at high volume:

Guess I better throw in a ski photo or two, Canaan Valley, WV ski area 10 Jan 2025, good conditions:

I miss old school Beartrap.

Do they even really make snow on it anymore? I know they killed the tunes. That was always the best 300 vert run in existence when the bumps were soft.

i went to this last night.

tapers choice is an indie supergroup that made a jamband. alex from real estate. dave from darkside. the drummer from vampire weekend.

they are LA based and i love them and i was excited for them to come east.

then it was announced that the show would be relix 50th anniversary party and they announced a shitload of guests. tom hamilton (jrad), scott metzger (jrad), karina rykman, ryan miller (guster), mike gordon (phish), tom constanten (sort of the grateful dead). a horns section. mikaeala davis

it turned into a jamband gangbang and they played a lot of canon

it was fun but i just wanted to see tapers choice!

dunno where else to just say RIP to david lynch a truly unique and uniquely american artist
Yeah, Blue Velvet was pretty memorable.
When Twin Peaks came on TV I caught the bug like a lot of folks. After a while I got tired of the endless plot lines, but I never tired of the cool music that show had.

the issue with twin peaks was its own success and tv culture. s2 is off the fucking rails because abc had a hit and wouldn't let lynch complete the arch.

there is a fan edit of s1 and s2 that cuts out all the stupid shit (ben horne civil war plotline for example), and dials it down to lynch's intended arc

S1 + S2 edit + fire walk with me + S3 (21st century reboot) are totally iconic

and yes, memorable haunting score

Snow has been made on it this week and the rumor is that the speakers on the towers have been repaired and will be playing tunes once the rope has been dropped.... We'll see about the tunes part. Friends of mine up there this week confirmed the snowmaking part

If I am remembering correctly, the few times I have been at Stratton this year, each lift has tunes going. The Summit chair at Ellen is good for tunage and there is a lift at Sunday River playing music where the liftie is dancing to the tunes while loading the chairs. I think he might have a nick name for his gig... and stressing my memory a bit more, it seems that North Lynx and Castlerock usually have music going, along with their BBQ grills... but maybe I am dating myself here.

That would be sweet! Hope they let it bump up, especially in March. I could see myself doing 3 minute laps all day on a nice spring day haha.

I'm an old guy who still has a good home stereo system. I still blast tunes a couple times a week on it too. My covid hobby was replacing my old 1990s stereo system and repairing my speakers.
