This is cool. I would love to try. There are many resorts which have slopes grassy enough and void of rocks to put this in place as a summer attraction.

Not sure those GS suits are necessary though!

Those have been around for a long time, since the early 90's at least, I remember seeing them in the back of the Reliable Racing catalogs. Never tried it or even seen a pair in person though...looks cool!

Yeah, it was winter '11-12!
Ha! Actually, some of the best skiing I had last Winter was on natural trails with minimal cover and zero base. My local hill, Greek Peak, has a trail, Elysian Fields, that is half groomed, half ungroomed. There were lots of times when the ungroomed side skied much better than the icy groomed side, there is zero snowmaking on the ungroomed side. I hit Platty at the end of February and it was much the same. They got six inches overnight, there was zero base on the natural trails, they were closed initially but so many people were ducking the ropes, SP dropped them. Same deal, grass under six inches, skied great, never felt or heard any scraping, and had no new gouges on my bases. I guess it all depends on how grassy and rock free the trail is. You had to be careful not to edge too hard also, skied great though.

Followed a few hops of "related" videos from that one and came across this one. I have seen dune skiing before but this one looks very good.

mountain boarding looks more versatile. I mean they look more like mountain bikes in that they could handle bumps, ruts, etc. I feel like grass skis would be very finicky with rocks, ruts, and so forth.

Do resorts that have mountain biking or scenic life rides would allow these?
