Hey All,

Anybody like to ski Switch...Backwards? For people teaching young kids it's almost a necassity and with twin-tips skiing Switch is easy. I think the steepest run I skied Switch on was Challenge at Blue mountain. I was checked my speed with a couple quick turns..then hopped backwards..then spun back around and did a quick on the ground spin after that. I always enjoyed doing stuff like that..way before twin tips were in existence. I think I spun 8 times at the bottom of the Jackson Hole gondola and was freaking dizzy taking my skis off...

On Gaper Fools day at Blue I was skiing switch at the top of Paradise with a beer in my hand. I was on race skis and the snow was thick applesauce and something snagged me and I fell on my back...I fell in front of a back of about 7 others so luckily I didn't get run over. Miraculously..I only lost like an ounce of beer. I love skiing with a beer in one hand and my poles in the other but that's for another thread..Ski jones is getting higher...:daffy::daffy:

I could see that on the section right before Falls, but not the "headwall"

Never skiied with an open beer in hand, always slammed them on the lifts. Now I only ski with hard liquor because I had a beer explode in my pack on the first run of the day. All day I smelled like stale beer.

LOL..the headwall..yeah that's where I skied switch on..I could definitely ski all of any trail at Blue mountain switch but not carving or with steeze...lol..It's real easy for me to jump from skiing regular to switch at moderate speed but going from switch to regular is a bit more challenge..I mainly just like making little spins...I'm also into one legged steeze...I raced my Newbie cousin down Lazy Mile and the handicap I gave him was that I would ski it on one leg...Wow that's a leg burner...

The worst of it was I was at K and it was freezing out with some slight freezing rain, so I was workin the gondolas all day and they were packing 8 peeps in each one. I can only imagine what everyone was thinking about how stank I was.

On topic..I find it easy to land switch like a simple 180 off a small jump..or transition in the terrain. For this season I want to take off switch and land regular..On the small and medium sized booters, I'm only comfortable with straight airs...I like doing little backscratchers off the 2nd booter..which is a step-down jump. It just makes it seem like you have more air and looks steezier than a spread eagle. I've seen people do land switch after a Daffy which is insame...a tailgrab switch landing seems more do-able. If I compete in mogul comp..I want to add some steeze louise..

Really never had an interest....would screw around as a kid skiing backwards pre twin tip days on a green run, but no desire to ski or jump switch. No desire to hit rails either

to be honest i like haveing the abilty to ride either way. it is not something that i have to think about. its not like i would take something switch in a no fall area but out cruising its second nature.

Riding Switch/Goofy/Fakie on a snowboard seems different than on skis..on skis it's backwards but on a snowboard..you're just facing the other way..it still looks cool when a snowboarder does a 180 off a terrain feature and then keeps cruising along before doing another 180..

skiing switch on ski's is way harder becuase you are really going backwards. i just don't anything to come in the way of my flow when i am riding. plus i like hitting most jumps on my toeside edge and some hits are just better when your on the toeside not the hellside. every year i spend a whole day riding switch and when i am teaching the kids i ride switch like 50% of the time.

Old school steeze..backscratchers and daffys are the ill shiz-nit..a double daffy looks like the running man which is my favorite old school dance move.

I ski switch regularily on my alpine gear.. top of the summit chair on Mt Ellen to the bottom of the GMX, (on groomers only though..) is my largest vert switch run. switch on my teles is a workout though!!! I havent' quite mastered that one yet... but this season I want to!
