OK, thought I'd throw these questions out and see who gets 'em. Have fun and later I will throw out some more.

  • 1. Chairlift company that went bankrupt because of a lethal grip design. Bonus: the worst accident involving this grip took place at which resort?

    2. First tram in America was on this mountain. And who was the company that built it?

    3. Which large corporation bought Jay Peak in the 1960's, took its timber, and installed its famous tram before selling it? Bonus: name one of the original Jay Peak founders.

    4. Name two current chairlift manufacturers. Bonus if you can name a third one.

    5. Name Bode Miller's REAL home ski area.

    6. Bonus: what ski did Bode make famous by racing on them back in the 1990's?

    7. Name the high school alma mater of Kelly Lewis and Diane Roffe Steinrotter. Bonus: Name the founder of the school and the mountain on which it sits.

    8. What is the name of Cannon's forgotten sister mountain?

    9. What was Sunday River's first mascot?

    10. What ski area was designed and built by a former New Hampshire Governor?

There's a Wiki on Yan.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lift_Engineering

Yan detachable lifts were subject to a series of disastrous accidents, the most famous of which was on the Quicksilver lift at Whistler-Blackcomb Resort in British Columbia, Canada. The Quicksilver accident killed two and injured 8[1]. The Quicksilver lift is also notable for being one of the few- and possibly the only- Yan quad lift that had bubble chairs.

[/list]

Weyerhauser bought Jay Peak from the original owners and installed the tram. Some of the original owners were Harold Haynes and Father St. Onge.

This is also my first post! Glad to be here.

I think the Lake Louise detachable yan quad had bubbles at some point ? Maybe not for it's whole life span? It had to be condemned by the gov to get RCR to stop using it.
