Yeah, I thougt this question might throw a few people. Dan Egan RAN 10e in 2003-4, but he did not own it. If it's not the Egan brothers, then it must be...

The mountain is further North.

Off to a great start!

Yes, Bolton Valley it is. Now who was the family? I figured if I had said North AND West I would have given it away...

Yes sir! CORRECT.

OK, that was a dirty one...I will waive it and answer.

The Willoughby Quad has 164 chairs on it and the new HSQ only has 61. BIG difference  I figure that the summit HSQ might only have about 100 or so...

    10. What is the name on which the Middlebury Snowbowl sits on and what year did they last host the NCAA Division I Alpine Championships?

Thanks for the welcome, trailboss. Been reading your stuff for a long time and my new year's resolution was to join in the fun!

SKI owned Killington, Waterville Valley, Sugarloaf and Bromley.

Mad River Glen was originally owned by Roland Palmedo. It was bought by Truxton Pratt. When he died, it was taken over by the "famously congenial" Betsy Pratt. She then sold it to the Coop.

Middlebury College Snowbowl sits on Breadloaf Mountain. It last hosted the NCAA Alpine championship in 2001 (I think). :D

Nope, not Breadloaf. That is a mountain that is close by and is the name of the hotel area..Breadloaf Inn.

Very good start though!

The SKI Question: you've got three for certain, but I'm going to have to check on Bromley.

As for Middlebury, 2001 is CORRECT. But as I said to teachski, Breadloaf is not the mountain. Close by and just a few peaks away on the ridge.

Killington, Pico, Mount Snow, Haystack, Waterville, Sugarloaf, cranmore

Killington: yes (the "K" in SKI)
Pico: I don't know...they might have bought it before selling out to ASC.
Snow: YES ("S" in SKI)
Sugarloaf: YES ("S" in SKI)
Haystack: YES.
Waterville: YES.
Cranmore: I did not know that...will have to check on that as well...

There is one missing for sure that no one has mentioned: it was a long time ago as well. Hint: think of ASC history...this was a resort prospect that was owned by SKI before selling it to a SKI Manager in training.

#9 the family was D'lauriers...I know I butchered the spelling, going by memory, who owned Bolton, two sons Rob and Eric? are well known extreme skiers, and who went bankrupt and started the resort's perilous journey of legal fights(loved the ones over the name and the use of the base lodge)for the last ten years with several owners.

Hey Betsy, photogf128 from SJ here. Glad to see you post here. You should definately check out the new Sugarbush/MRG forum that has begun as well. www.skimrv.com.

The wife and I are taking our first weekend off in over a year. Having 3 teenagers is more than a 7 day a week job. We will be spending our time in the valley and Burlington. Soooo looking forward to it, especially the Burlington part since we don't get to the big city that often..lol

Anyways, welcome, please continue to post.

I my memory holds Less owned sunday river, attitash and sugarbush, while SKI owned the above. although i could have attitash, cranmore and waterville mixed i think ski owned 2 and less 1.

ASC was forced to divest cranmore and waterville by the goverment.
Sugarloaf: YES ("S" in SKI)
Haystack: YES.
