The double and triple both suck at Attitash. Double is definitely slower though.

Wonder if the Triple is a potential site for a conveyor loading ala Skyline at Sugarloaf. I've heard over and over from management in AZ challenges (and to a lesser extent Attitash regulars on the forums) why they won't replace the Summit lift with a HSQ, but maybe adding a conveyor and bumping the lift speed to reduce the ride time a few minutes might be a good compromise?

I don't know much about lift construction but they have a few towers that sit precariously on some large boulders. I'm guessing they would have to do a good amount of blasting to make a HSQ work. The other issue is that notorious crosswind. Could cause a lot of concern.

I think that the bigger issue is that it is WMNF land.

I was going to say Smuggs, but honestly their issue is not just speed it is age. They will have to eventually replace those lifts and I imagine that they will go the HSQ route. I was thinking of areas with existing fixed grip quads and triples that could be retrofitted. Another one might be some of Killington's lifts.

No HSQ!! Put triples in but no HSQ unless they expand their snowmaking system.

There are plenty to choose from Rangley double at Saddleback, Black chair at Magic some at Pats Peak (they are short so not so bad), Spear Triple at Ragged and many more I could list! Some are forgotten because there are faster alternatives and as a result the slow chairs are ignored!

I don't mind the slow chairlifts. It is meditative. I talk to my wife, watch people, breathe, etc. what bothers me is lines. I'd take 20 minute ride over 10 minute wait and 10 minute ride any time!

The Summit Quad at Mt. Ellen was pretty slow. Not sure if they were running it at a slower speed due to wind, but it was cold and it seemed to take forever. That said, the view at the summit is worth it.

It's a red herring. There are lots of HSQs on Forest Service land. It's about the return on investment.

True with the ROI comment, but I think that the review process is longer, more expensive, and more uncertain.

I recall that lift going much faster under ASC and the first few years of Win than in recent years. I wonder if they run it slower now for whatever reason.
