Leaving tomorrow for Oo-tah.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions for these mountains? Any must-ski runs, bowls, chairs, etc...? Any Eden-area establishments that should be patronized?

We fully plan on doing some of the alterna-skiing at PowMow, most likely a cat ride or two.

Anything else we are missing? They are getting hit with snow right now, FANCY!

If you can definitely do the cat and Powder Country at Powder.

For Snowbasin, if conditions are good, take John Paul express for some good back country type skiing and if open head out to Strawberry area for some real nice terrain and breath taking views

careful on the way to Power Mountain, cops like to nap speeders after the stop signs where the speed limit drops to 30 or something like that.

Snowbasin

Agreed with the abover re: Snowbasin bathrooms....nicest ski bathrooms ever. Bring your camera as the views at snowbasin are outta this world. If the line to the Needles Gondola is too long in the AM, hit up John Paul and enjoy empty trails while everybody else is scurrying over to Strawberry. Seems that the crowds work left to right on the map, all my visits I worked right to left and it seems to have paid off.

Be prepared to spend some time atop the Strawberry gondola marveling at the view of Ogden and the Great Salt Lake.

It is low angle and not very long but one of my best runs ever was skiing through the small cottonwoods in perfect windblown, skiers right off of the lower section of the Elk Ridge trail.

You should have a blast!!

Look for the random bus in the woods at Pow Mou... Up the poma - hike up the ridge and follow.. It's pretty freaky... But it marks the start of a great (low angle) pow field thats never tracked out...

That's Sun Valley for ya. The whole lodge at Snow Basin is ornate. I felt bad walking around in ski boots there.

Enjoy Jay, Both PowMow and Snow Basin are awesome. Looked like they were getiing some snow this morning too. Have a Cheese Burger at the top of the quad at Powder. I was surprised that shack up there served me one of the best I have ever tasted a couple of years ago. Don't burn all the snow off the mountains as I'm going out in late march:p

You should get a burger and beer at the Shooting Star Saloon.

I preferred Snow Basin to Powder Mountain. Both areas offer a lot of good skiing. John Paul was mentioned and there are some great lines off of te Strawberry Express Gondola.

They are both awesome mountains, although very different. I was there last weekend with bad snow and still had a blast. Snowbasin is steap with some amazing hike-to chutes. Super luxe but without the obnoxious crowd that usually goes with it. As others have said, Strawberry for open bowls and John Paul for steeper trees. Powder Mountain is huge with unbelievable amounts of easy-to-ski powder fields. Great, low-key vibe. Cat ride is a blast, but you will not need it to find plenty of untracked. Paradise lift has the steepest lift-accessed terrain.

Unlike us, you timed your trip perfectly. At least we got one epic powder day before flying home...

Thought the mexican restaurant in Eden was pretty good. When coming back from powder mtn. take a left at the 4-way stop sign. Then bout a 1/2 mile on your left.

You can get discounted lift tickets at the ski shop in Eden located next to the 4-way stop sign.

Also, if powder country is open at PowMow, do that. But make sure you are a strong powder skier or you will have trouble.

At Snowbasin make sure that you take the little cabin lift up to the top of the Olympic Downhill, then stand awestruck as you realize that the competitors tucked down that slope.
