did trip to UT 2 years ago in late Feb with wife (not skier) and 2 kids (14 + 9 at the time). Stayed in Ogden @ Hampton Inn and drove to SB and PM. both mountains were great but when we got there they hadn't had snow in a week so the locals were complaining the PM was not skiing well (it was fine for us).

Couldn't get over how vast PM was. Found it an odd drive up to their lodge, you basically drive up one side of the mountain to almost the peak and then ski off the back side. Watch for speed traps on the way up to PM if you do drive.

Neither mountain was crowded, a pleasant surprise considering we were there during east coast school break.

We liked Ogden too, wife not skiing found interesting things to do and we could walk to restaurants. There is some sort of indoor mall/arcade/movie theater that was pretty new when we were in Ogden which might be fun if you have 2 teenage girls to entertain after skiing. it was a couple of blocks from the Hampton Inn but i can't remember the name.

You'll be fine. We should pick up 2-5 feet of snow this week from three separate systems, and here's Snowbird at this very moment:

Looks great. I'd like to be up there every day while I'm in town, but my grandmother is turning 92 next month and I need to stop and see her, and then I've got some friends and other family to visit.

But pour me up some of that 3.2, I'm on my way!

We're horribly spoiled.

The Salomon Center (yes, that Salomon). In addition to the above, they also have an indoor skydiving center, bowling alleys, indoor climbing center, etc.

Comin' right up.

BTW, did you choose Snowbird because you ride instead of ski? Otherwise be aware that Alta's goods need a lot less base than Snowbird's to be skiable.
