:???:

Seems like most reports from this weekend indicate short lines and not many crowds, especially Monday. Any one have a report to offer up that suggested holiday crowds were bad or typical of a holiday weekend? Did the snow storm bury metro skiers in? Did the roads suck so bad (horrid this morning even up north with less snow than metro) that skiers either stayed home or stayed local? Or stayed in their driveways shoveling out? How did the hotels do? Did fewer skiers opt for the long weekend getaway despite tons of fresh snow? Seems like most reports indicate not much traffic or crowds. What's up with that (not that I mind)?

From what I've been seeing at Sundown it seems like people are staying local. They've been having an up year so far. I don't know how it was today, but last night it was packed, more people than I've ever seen for a night session (though the lift lines were fine). I imagine that people's worries about the economy and the fact that we actually have plenty of snow on the ground down here (for once) are both contributing factors.

I was at Jack Frost Saturday and there were a good amount of people but no real liftlines...Blue mountain was pretty crowded Sunday and for MLK day it was apparently a shitshow..Ski areas down here are all having one of their best seasons ever..I don't think as many people from my area are driving to Vermont..especially because we've had 1+ inch of snow 5 of the past 9 days..people are really coming out of the woodwork this season..alot of people who haven't skied in a decade..

Mount Snow had a "normal" Saturday crowd. Sunday was alot busier than your usual Sunday crowd (thank you powder day ;) ) and I'd guess that it was a bit busier than Saturday, and it was a late arriving, late leaving crowd Sunday. I actually left to head home Sunday, and even leaving my place at 4:10 I only had a 1 light wait down at the light in Wilmington, whereas when I picked my kids up at the mountain @3:30, the lines for the Grand Summit Express and Canyon Quad were still 5 to 8 folks deep in each roped lane. Couldn't comment on Monday's crowd, but based on what I saw during the day on the webcam, it was busy by usual Monday standards, probably in the neighborhood of a "light" weekend crowd.

For what its also worth, I didn't see a single hotel/inn along Route 100 that had a "no vacancy" sign up this weekend.

Sunday River had alot of full chairs on Monday but no lift line more than 90 seconds long. Oh, and Oz completely kicked ass.

They've surprised me a couple of times this year with a heavy mid-week crowd, due in part to U.K. tourists. It's wild that they cross an ocean to ski the east coast.

Bromley was fairly busy Sunday. However, we've only been there a few times, so I can't really gauge how different it was from the typical Sunday crowd.

I'm thinking the weather Sunday AM may have kept some folks away.

thought killington was a ghost town saturday. we started on bear to stay warm and my tracks were still there a couple runs later. felt like it was our private ski area. did get busier in the afternoon but still light for a saturday, nevermind a holiday saturday. sunday was more crowded probably because of the powder and it did warm up. still nothing that can be described as crowded.

the parking lots at Gunstock were packed. All the satellite lots were full and the shuttle buses were busy running back and forth. But the amount of people on the mountain and in line was not what you'd expect after seeing all those cars. Maybe the temps kept people in the lodges for longer periods of time? I don't know.

Magic was the busiest I've seen Sunday. Combo of race + holiday led to 5+ minute waits ;)

I was completely amazed that one double serviced that"crowd" with no lines.
Two friends are pass holders and they were worried when they saw the .... um....two busses.I just chuckled.

In Stowe it seemed that everyone was in the stores, restaurants and bars and not on the slopes. We were at Cactus Cafe on Friday night which was pretty busy, even early in the evening. I saw quite a significant number of tour buses, so I have to believe many people had non-refundable reservations that they had to go through with anyways.

On Saturday at Jay Peak, it was almost exclusively a college crowd. The tables in the lodges were all taken, though it wasn't too hard to find a place to sit. The only line was on the Tram and the T-bar (that was a fun nostalgic experience).

I expected with all the weather studs and babes prognosticating for warm weather on Monday that it would be mobbed early, with the go-home crowd departing in the afternoon. Wasn't there so can't report.

Good for them. Magic needs busy. Not too busy, just busy! This is the only circumstance where I'll applaud a lift line.
Didn't they have one lift out of service?
Agreed.

The Black chair has not turned this season. Red went down late in the day Saturday. Simple electrical fix had it back online Sat. eve.

Yup

Cannon was empty on Saturday.Probably the least amount of people on a Saturday this year. The conditions were fantastic and the temps were just fine.I think the weather guys scared a lot of people away(thanks).Sunday still had no lines while I was there in the morning with some sweet freshies to be found to those in the know.Best weekend this year for me and pretty empty by Cannon standards even for a non holiday weekend.
