We just were notified that not so little tree_skier qualified for the vermont state championship. So we are heading to Sugarbush sunday night for a stay at the Golden Lion for Mondays race.

Now the bad news. I will miss some of the super bowl and wont be watching any of it on my HD big screen. Also i may not be able to make monday nights race @ Pats Peak.

Congrats to the kid. We'll see you Monday night. Just like you said last week Sugarbush to Pats is easy, right down the highway.

He skis out of Mount Snow Ski Club.

The problem is I will have my son with me and I don't know what time we will be leaving Glen Ellen. So I don't know what time I could arrive.

I looked for him on the VARA website south VT standings, but they only have 2007.

Congrats. Good luck in the race.

The SVC is a little screwy. They have had 2 GS races and based the team on the top 2 runs. So you could have fallen 50% of the time and still made the team. He was 18th or 19th in SVC based on that with finishes of 12, 16, 16, 17. But as long as the course isn't too turny he should do well as he is on the bigger kids 5'9" 150 lbs 12 y/o. He is a good 60 lbs heavier then some of the kids. I am very happy he gets to go and hopefully he will get a top thirty finish.

I will try for some vids from monday's race and possibly next friday's sg @ stratton.

He does like the speed stuff although he is asking for longer skis. he has 185 atomic SG boards that are 2 seasons old but only have about 8 days on them.

He is forerunning the J3 SG @ snow friday.

It's one of those things where when you do it you know it.

But seriously I have raced pretty much most of my life, done some bump contests, flirted with ballet, snowboarded, and also did some real ski jumping and except for the jumping nothing comes close to the rush of racing. If anyone has the opportunty to go off a real jump, even on alpine gear, do it. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately there are no jumps for the public in southern vermont. Even just standing on top of a small 20-40meter jump and looking over your tips down the ramp can give you quite a rush. It's almost like standing in a good start house.

Actually Deb Newson wants to drum up more involvement in the aerials and is trying to get some of the mogul kids to join in the comp Sat night. If they're not going to actually compete, she wants them to at least stick around and watch. Iceman will prolly watch it.
