(Since the niar event...) Has anyone ventured into the woods yet at lower-elevations, i.e., Chapel woods? I suspect it's still pretty nasty, even at low el, until we get a good dump, no? thoughts?

The woods at Burke, including the low elevation ones, were closed and still are. I would wait...

I skiied woods in Northfield friday. Still dust on crust, but 4 inches of fairlt dense snow was enough for some control, even on my xc skis. I imagine woods will be getting descent again by tuesday/wednasday, esspecially away from areas where this last clipper got skiied off. Next w/e back country should be fun.

woods are good

I skied various glades at Stowe today. The lower elevation ones, especially near Chapel were delightfully wonderful. 4-5" on Fri/Sat. made a world of difference. Generally boot deep, here and there nearly to the knee. There was amazingly no wind all weekend. Damn cold yes, but compensated for by lots of sun and no winds...... The woods are good again :)
