STOWE, Vermont — In the winter of 1999 a group consisting of Stowe Mountain Resort managers from five departments assembled to address safety issues that affect skiers and snowboarders. The season-long collaboration meant to enhance guests' experiences and create a safer culture resulted in the Triple-A program.
Originally, the Triple-A Progam centered on increasing Awareness, respectful Attitudes, and the Accountability of skiers and snowboarders to ultimately provide a more enjoyable experience for mountain guests by expanding upon the existing National Ski Areas Association's Skier/Rider Responsibility Code.
In 2001, Stowe's marketing collateral, posters and colorful flags displayed throughout the resort reflected the Triple A Program's mission.
Today the Triple-A's are Stowe's guiding principles, educating employees and giving guests a perspective on how unique the Stowe Mountain Resort lifestyle is. Ultimately, the goal of Triple-A program is to instill greater respect for each other, our surroundings, and the environment.
New in Stowe for the 2005-2006 season is the creation an entire mountain area dedicated to a serene, calm, and sensitive skiing and riding experience. On Spruce Mountain, $30 million has been invested in new lifts, trails and snowmaking. In addition, Stowe is staffing the area with a sizable number of mountain patrollers and hosts to help facilitate a better experience for intermediates and families.
