Just got back to the house (where I'm staying/skiing for free!) from a day at Stratton. Conditions were packed, both in terms of powder and people, as lift lines were pretty long before and afte lunch. Morning and later afternoon (it started snowig) everything but the Gondola improved, line-wise.
As I feared, the mountan was bump-free. There was plenty of snow in the woods from the 4-6 inches left from Thurs, but with a scrape-y sounding underlayer. Some of the marked trails were approaching skating rink status, while others (Sun bowl and most of the lower mountain) had great snow. Had fun in the "Boardercross" course (maybe left over from last weekend?) they had set up.
The snow kept falling after the lifts closed, and the access road was a headache with plenty of spinouts and one minivan that became the "little engine that couldN'T" on one of the hills. The police were doing a very good job with it all though, keeing traffic moving for the most part, and the plows were out. Tomorrow should be VERY good.
