I usually wouldn't touch Stratton on a normal Saturday but I wouldn't worry too much about crowds this Saturday.

People are all into the christmas bullshit at home (shopping, lighting ceremonies, etc..)

Plus no seasonal programs starting yet (they start 12/14 after the rain / refreeze) and all other Ikon destinations open, as well as other local mountains all open.

Conversely, it did snow in CT and MA I think and that usually makes people think Skiing.

URSA to spin Saturday per Stratton IG

Snow really started coming down heavy early afternoon, kinda sleety up top fluffy down below. Eventually smoothed the bumps. Visibility was a lot tougher this afternoon. Got in 5 solid hours, no wait at gondola and lifts. Plan to go tomorrow if the wind doesn’t ruin it.

we are Stratton newbie’s - aka Sugarbush refugees - is there bag storage anywhere? Hear its just outside only, which sounds barbaric at such a fancy resort! Will have a bag with clothes from changing and perhaps a lunch. Or do you recommend eating lunch at a particular place? What about basing out of sunbowl? Going tomorrow

you can pay a few $ to check your bag and its good that they did away with the free for all. the main stratton base lodge is a shitshow.

think its still free at sunbowl to just hang your bag on a peg/throw in a cubby, but i doubt they get that open this weekend

I hung my boot bag on an outside rack under the overhang on the gondola side of the base lodge, there were several racks for bags. The main base has pay lockers downstairs. Both must fill up early on the weekends. At the sunbowl I leave everything in my car.

I always park at Sunbowl if only so I don't have to take a shuttle.

Just how windy is it supposed to be Sunday?

if you dont have a need for ski school/rentals, i dont understand why you would ever park at main base or a shuttle lot at stratton. i generally ski to the back hatch of my car at sunbowl (i park steps from the solstice lift usually)

Sunbowl is closed right now. Anyone know if they will be opening it for this weekend?

f me, NWS 3258 ft forecast does not show such winds. I guess it will be Amex to Ursa all morning if that holds up

Awesome bell to bell day, sun out, cold, and minimal wind, never waited beyond the steps for the gondola. Bear down and Upper middlebrook bumps wiped me out.

Better half is diggin it IMG_5583.jpeg

We had an awesome day today, one of our best first day of the season days ever. We stuck to the natural snow trails and were so surprised by how much fun it was at Stratton! They do have snow there, didn’t hit a single rock! Did Beardown around one and it was far from beat down, found some uncut snow turns!
