Conditions: Powder
Trip Report: Wow...had no idea we'd get so lucky. A friend and I were up visiting someone at UMaine and had two days to go skiing at Sugarloaf. There hadn't been much snow up there for the longest time until we got there. Ended up getting 4-5 inches the first day and another 6-8 the second. It was unreal. Quite possibly the two best days on snow we've had so far. We'd been waiting for this day for a looong time
It was our first time at Sugarloaf, and we were pretty disappointed that we weren't going to get to ski the snowfields (they were all closed). We did get to his some double blacks off the J lift that were awesome though. As you get off that lift and traverse skiers right, I highly recommend dropping in to the areas in between the trails, real fun terrain there. All the treeskiing areas were excellent- just the way they should be: solid, hardpack base, with fresh powder on top. We also got to take advantage of Sugarloaf's boundary to boundary skiing- we stumbled upon some ridiculous powder stashes that I'm sure the locals will be bumbed to find tracked out
