Another thing too is going to Sugarloaf doubles the amount of the trip for me.
Well, if it's cost-prohibitive, that's one thing, but don't count it out because of the drive. As stated earlier, it's only an hour or so further than the River. If you're staying overnight, I don't know why the drive is that much of a concern. Secondly, if you're skiing the Loaf the way it should be skied, the only thing you should need "around the area" is a bed. ;) Again, I feel strongly that all Northeast skiers should try the Loaf. Unfortunately, it sounds like you counted it out already... :-?

Another thing that makes me want to go to the river is I found 44.00 lift ticket on the town and country's website. THe more money I save the happier I am. Plus, I may not be that old but, I cant ski pow to save my life and with a bum knee bumps are very limited. I just like to rip and carve down the mountain now.

Sounds like you will really like the River then. The snow is always as good as it can be based on the weather. Like Bob said I too prbably won't be there midweek unless there is a powder day, otherwise I would show you around.

Others have made good points about SL. I'm sure the loaf on a powder day is better than SR, But I know where the goods are at SR and would have to find them at SL. Also on apowder day it is a much longer drive to SL than SR.
